Rock Band Gets A Little More Country

Country fans, this is the pack you’ve been waiting for – “Going Country Pack 02” features six country tracks previously only available on the Country Track Pack disc. Now available for download on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii, these tracks include three Grammy winners and number one songs from the country charts.

Alan Jackson’s “Good Time” comes to us from the 2008 album of the same name which hit number one on the country albums chart and the Billboard 200. Jackson’s party song needed a video that reflected the party feel of the song – enter the longest line dance of all time.

Cross Canadian Ragweed isn’t from Canada – they’re from good ol’ Oklahoma. Their name comes from a combination of some of their members’ last names (Cody Canada, Randy Ragsdale, Grady Cross, and Jeremy Plato). Their track “Cry Lonely” might have been listened to by another Rock Band artist during the songwriting process – Dierks Bentley’s Rock Band song “Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go)” has the lyrics “Ragweed’s rockin’ on the radio…”

Jason Aldean’s track “She’s Country” debuted at the Country Music Awards and was the fastest-rising single of his career. Aldean says it’s “a southern shout-out to all the country girls.” The energetic song was intended to be a live performance song from the start. Aldean says, “When we got in the studio and played it for the first time, it flew out of the speakers!”

Grammy-winner Keith Urban had a number two hit with “I Told You So,” and says the track has a bit of an influence from Irish folk music. We have an Irish folk music-influenced country song from an Australian singer – how’s that for diversity?

“The Gambler” wasn’t just a number one hit for Kenny Rogers – it was part of a string of five number one hits in a row, plus part of his appearance on “The Muppet Show.” It also, of course, spawned its own TV movie (and four sequels) starring Rogers himself, which became the longest running miniseries franchise on TV.

No country pack would be complete without songs from the lovely ladies of country music, and this pack has two chart-toppers: Martina McBride and Shania Twain. McBride’s track “This One’s For the Girls” features advice for ladies of all ages about being yourself and being happy with who you are. Of the track McBride says, “Sometimes it's hard to stay true to yourself and to stick to your guns.”

Shania Twain is a darling in the country world and a five-time Grammy winner. “Any Man of Mine” was the second single from her second album, The Woman in Me and was a number one country hit and a Grammy-nominated track.

Break out your cowboy boots and practice your southern twang. These tracks will be available on December 29th for Xbox 360 and Wii, and January 7th for PlayStation 3. The tracks will be available singly for $1.99 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and for $2.00 on Wii. The pack will be available for $10.99 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
