So you think you’ve got a set of pipes that can match Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine? You say you’ve already spent a few months practicing your moves in front of the mirror while blasting “Makes Me Wonder”? Now’s your chance to put them to the test. If you’ve got the album It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, or if you’ve been anywhere near a radio in the past couple of years, you already know the three songs by heart: “Makes Me Wonder,” “Little of Your Time” and “Wake Up Call” came all in a row on the original album; bearing the band’s classic blend of pop and soul. At times they have a bit of a dark edge in the lyrics — Levine says that “Makes Me Wonder” shows “an increasing dissatisfaction with the direction of the world” — but the funky grooves give a satisfaction of their own.
It’s been two years since that album was released, but there’s plenty of Maroon 5 in your future: Levine made a memorable appearance on the 30 Rock season finale last month; and this Sunday the band will be making a benefit appearance in Los Angeles, where they’ll likely play some of the new material they’ve been working up in the studio. If you’re lucky enough to have tickets for that, we want to hear you sing that much harder!
