PS3 RBN Releases for Tuesday, 10/11/2011 (North America) and Wednesday, 10/12/2011 (Europe)

Expert PS3 drummers have been requesting the chance to play 2x Bass Pedal songs. You're talking - we're listening. This week, for the first time ever on PS3, we have a special treat of 5 RBN 2.0 songs with double bass pedal support. Three of these 2x Bass Pedal songs are completely new to PS3, so you can easily pick which version you'd prefer, and the other two were selected based on popularity and interest.

What's a 2x Bass Pedal song? Many musicians use two bass pedals rather than one when they're playing their songs (especially in metal songs). To keep you from breaking something (like your leg), we thin those beats out so that they can be played on a regular, single-pedal Rock Band drum kit. But many dedicated Rock Band drummers own two bass pedals, and they are capable of playing the original chart for these songs. Many songs on the RBN are charted both for a single-pedal setup and for two bass pedals. We mark songs that require two bass pedals for accurate play with "(2x Bass Pedal)" in the title.

2x Bass Pedal FAQ

Q: Are all the tracks different on a 2x Bass Pedal song?

A: No. Only the Expert drum track is different on a 2x Bass Pedal song. All of the other tracks are the same.

Q: Can I play my 2x Bass Pedal version online with someone who owns the original version?

A: No. From the perspective of online play, these are two entirely different songs.

Q: Have there ever been any 2x Bass Pedal tracks released in regular DLC?

A: So far, all 2x Bass Pedal tracks have been released on the RBN. Rock Band Network authors recognized the desire for 2x Bass Pedal tracks and then suggested and implemented the entire system. We're glad to see that it's been such a success!

And if you'd rather give your legs a rest, we have "Doppelgänger" by Freezepop and "Soy Bomb" by Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives to rock your living room instead. These songs are only a dollar apiece, so get them now!

Today's 10-song PS3 release was by special arrangement so that non-drummers would receive their regular quota of 5 songs in addition to the 5 2x Bass Pedal songs released today. We'll be returning next week to our regular 5-song schedule.

The Rock Band Network was developed upon Microsoft's XNA technology, and all RBN songs have 30-day exclusivity on the Xbox 360. However, select RBN 2.0 songs are submitted to the PS3 by Sony and Harmonix at the rate of 5 songs a week, as determined by factors such as popularity and community interest. To request future songs for the PS3, go to the forum thread here. We're always interested in hearing what songs our PS3 customers would enjoy!

Thank you so much for bringing 2x bass pedal songs to PS3 !! It's awesome !! And i hope we'll get In Division from Underoath in the next weeks.

I was hoping the special surpise was a XMB boot fix. But alas, I'll keep on dreaming.

OMG, this is not that huge ! I think 2x bass pedal is cool and stuff, but I would rather have a bigger set of songs, and some cool ones at that. DLCs have sucked as of late, well at least for me !

and just throwing it out there u still didnt announce the artist of the month and didnt release their songs to us first like u said it was susposed to be announced i recall from ur post last monday

really thats our special surprise

When you guys said there was a BIG announcement, I got real excited and looked forward to seeing the post. Now I'm just extremely disappointed. I was expecting something along the lines of PS3 getting the rest of the RBN 1.0 songs that were only out on XBox, because that's a big announcement. This, although cool, was pretty much a let down. Especially since I don't own two pedals yet.

Yay freezepop's finally on PS3 RBN, I'm so happy :D

YAY! More Amberian Dawn! Don't know how my sister will handle 2x Bass Pedals... may have to get both versions just incase. :D

Yeah another After the Burial song for PS3 :) Next week "My Frailty"? :D
