PAX 2010: Amazing Moments on the Rock Band Lounge Stage

So the first PAX East went off brilliantly. We had an awesome time in our first floor lounge and were blown away by some of the performances we saw on our stage. While there are some incredible videos floating around the interwebz of the madness that engulfed our small lounge each day, I thought I’d highlight some of my favorite crazy moments. For those of you who weren’t out at PAX – we missed you lots! For those of you who did make it out, thank you so much for making our first PAX East a rockin’ success! Check out this forum thread to discuss your PAX East experience.

Now, in no particular order, several incredibly crazy, in-your-face, rockstar performances from the PAX East Rock Band Lounge!

Moment #1 Harmonix QA Goes Buckwild

Never let anyone tell you that Harmonix doesn’t know how to party. On Friday night we kept our doors open a little bit late and our QA staff arrived, post-work, and ready to party. They raided our costume trunk, got on stage, and riled up the crowd, yelled, and headbanged the entire lounge into submission.

Moment #2 A Bad Romance Starts Day 2

First, this gentleman made the greatest use of our costume trunk ever. I love that he pretty much draped every piece of glitter I’d added to the trunk to his person – and he even incorporated the skirt that HMXLadyCzerach wore out to the HMX Gaga night. Plus a parasol was involved. Dude had style, choreography, and pipes to match. It was an incredibly perfect gaga-b***h start to day 2.

What a pretty parasol!

Moment #3 So What'cha Want (John Drake)?

A raucous performance of "So What'cha Want" by the Beastie Boys. This involved crowd participation, lots of running around onstage, and one Mr. John Drake, doing some crazy one-handed bass dancing.

Moment #4 Douchenozzle Takes Us to a Gay Bar

Our Improv Boston pals Douchenozzle took the stage early at PAX East and performed a light and subdued version of their standby, “Conventional Lover.” I had forewarned our event partners, The Promo Guys, about DN’s wild behavior and felt a little bit silly when they made it through a full song clothed, and without any sort of not T for Teen rated dance moves. But DN doesn’t disappoint. The guys were back early the next day with $60 to plunk down for our Child’s Play fundraiser. They skipped the line and got up onstage skimpy shorts ready to rock to some Electric Six.

Those are some short shorts.

Moment #5 The Gurnkillers feat. RockBandAide

If you play Rock Band on the regular, then you know the Gurnkillers – these guys are srs bzns when it comes to putting on a truly excellent live Rock Band performance. They closed out our official floor stage on day one with Tommy from RockBandAide guest-spotting. The song? Europe’s “The Final Countdown” – what better way to close a day?

All photographic evidence spontaneously combusted.

Moment #6 The Ghostbusters

Consider this a bonus it needs no explanation. Just look at the photos…

Who ya gonna call?
