Rock Band Hits 3,000 Songs!

Rock Band has been delivering weekly DLC for 193 consecutive weeks for a total of 3,000 songs! Those songs come from over 1,200 artists, more than 45 of which are Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees! Over 1,200 of the songs come from the Rock Band Network. Here's a glimpse at the variety available in the Rock Band catalog.

The very first Rock Band DLC was released the day the original Rock Band was released - November 20, 2007 - and included:

  • Metallica - "...And Justice For All"
  • Metallica - "Blackened"
  • Metallica - "Ride the Lightning"
  • Queens of the Stone Age - "3's & 7's"
  • Queens of the Stone Age - "Little Sister"
  • Queens of the Stone Age - "Sick Sick Sick"
  • The Police - "Can't Stand Losing You"
  • The Police - "Roxanne"
  • The Police - "Synchronicity II"

Plus a pile of cover versions of:

  • Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son"
  • Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero"
  • The Knack's "My Sharona"
  • The Runaways' "Cherry Bomb"
  • T. Rex's "Get it On (Bang a Gong)"
  • Wolfmother's "Joker & the Thief"

Since then, we've released everything from pop to metal, classic rock to country, kids' songs to a vuvuzela song, new wave to nu metal, electronic to urban, and everything in between. In fact, we have 26 genres in the catalog! Rock leads the way with over 600 songs, but Metal, Alternative, Pop/Rock, Classic Rock, and Punk aren't far behind. Check out the spread of genres in the chart below.

Genres in Rock Band.

The catalog spans seven decades, starting with the 1950s. The '00s have the most songs with over 1,300, but there are tons of great songs from all the decades, including some classic Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison from the '50s. Take a peek at the number of songs in each decade in the chart below.

Decades in Rock Band.

In the beginning of Rock Band, we released about three songs a week. When the Rock Band Network started, we added three songs per day or more. Over the course of 3,000 songs, we've released an average of 15 songs per week! Some of the artists with the most songs in the game are Green Day, Foo Fighters, Queen, No Doubt, Pearl Jam, and Rock Band Network artist Amberian Dawn. But there are also over 760 artists with only one track in the game.

In October of 2010, we released Rock Band 3 and Pro DLC started. All of the songs on the Rock Band 3 disc and select DLC songs have Pro Guitar / Bass parts available. There are currently 203 Pro Guitar / Bass songs available with more released every week!

With so much to choose from, the Rock Band library offers something for everyone. What's your favorite Rock Band song of all time? Share with us in this thread in the Rock Band forums!

To celebrate our 3,000 song milestone, we're giving away 3,000 songs this week! Check out the rules and how to enter here.

I realize this is ROCKBAND, but I have been waiting since basically Rockband came out for A TON of courntry songs. There are so many awesome country artists and songs. When are we going to get an unlimited supply?

Joker and the thief is a original i as well have 300 songs keep up the good work metal is my most played genre need some pink floyd or maybe some led zeppelin from the classic rock era

"Joker and the Thief" was an original track though, no cover version. Nevertheless - great stuff! I personally own about 300 DLC tracks, so just 10% of that is available. Keep up the good work and I invest more of my money!

Congrats, HMX! Major props for the continued support even in these always seemingly hard times for music games. Keep it up! And PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE give us some more punk, grunge and (with the addition of keys and everything) some They Might Be Giants!

Joker & The Thief from the first week of DLC was a master if I remember right.
