So… Rock Band was at the Grammys. In two places. We were showing both in the Gifting Lounge which is where celebrities and VIPs go to pick up their gift bags filled with lots of stuff most of us probably can’t afford. We were also at the Style Studio which wasn’t that different from the Gifting Lounge. It was more focused on fashion but it had a mini-Skybar in there and when VIPs weren’t getting fitted for designer clothes or getting their hair done they could play Rock Band. Over the course of 4 days we played with a metric rad-ton of musicians, actors, producers, executives, other booth people, a few kids, and some even a few people who I had no idea what they did but didn’t care because they were awesome.
We even met Herbie Hancock who is quite easily the coolest, nicest, most awe inspiring person I have ever met. He, John, and I played “Roxanne” by the Police together. I can’t even tell you how stoked we were to watch him win Album of the Year at the awards ceremony.
It was a joy not only to play with some of these artists but to see how much they enjoyed playing the game.
All in all it was a very memorable event to be at. I was honestly taken aback at how nice everyone was to us. A couple of the artists already had the game and were amazing at it (Carah from Shiny Toy Guns being a particular standout), better than either of us even! Also it was a joy not only to play with some of these artists (many of whom are favorites of mine) but to see how much they enjoyed playing the game.
