This year, the Harmonix Web Team was honored with a Webby Award for TheBeatlesRockBand.com (Best Games-Related Website). This is pretty much the highest honor a web site can achieve, so we’re all incredibly excited to have won for the first time. RockBand.com had been nominated twice but, alas, those awards eluded our grasp. Working on TheBeatlesRockBand.com was one of the greatest honors of my professional life – much as creating the game was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those involved. The team genuinely put their heart and soul into it – wanting to create a lasting tribute to one of the greatest bands of all time, and to what The New York Times said “may be the most important video game yet made.”
The life of a web team is usually a pretty low-profile one. Since our work is virtual, we tend to stay put (oftentimes in darkened rooms, powered by an endless supply of caffeine). But our not-so-low-profile Community Team decided to put together a little video of the team from the land we call “HMX Webtowne” so we could give you a sneak peek behind the scenes and thank everyone who voted for us in the Webby’s People’s Voice awards. But this isn’t the last you’ll see of us. As you might know, we have a little game called Rock Band 3 coming out later this year, and we’ve been working non-stop on some amazing new stuff to go along with it. Stuff that may just blow your minds. Thanks again for voting for us, and stay tuned to RockBand.com!
