WEll guys I exchanged my Rock Band from launch day because my guitar broke yes the Downstrum thing. I noticed somethings different with my new box, first it had a yellow sticker on top thta says "If you encounter a problem with any rock Band peripheral, Do Not return to the store contact and EA's website" also at the bottom of the box I have a manufacture date 10/28/07.

My first box did not have any of this on it so what do you guys think? are there more versions of the game?

10/28 is the latest date I think I have seen, so you may very well have updated hardware. Keep us updated about how long it lasts.

You didn't notice the date on your old one, did you?

has anyone been paying attention to the model number on the sticker on the back of the guitars? do the ones with the microswitches vs the ones with the metal strips have different model numbers?

My box was dated Oct 7th on the bottom, and lacked the yellow sticker. The Xbox version I bought as a gift was dated Oct 23rd, and has the yellow sticker.

My original box did not have either sticker on, this one does have both one yellow on top and a white with the date on the bottom.
I've been using the new drums for a couple of hours now and it is different, let's start with the weight of the sticks they are mich lighter, I could tell right away, also the noise of the drums was more hollow instead of the "thud" that I heard before also they are way more sensitive.

Is a 360 version of the game.

I will post more later

I've been using the new drums for a couple of hours now and it is different, let's start with the weight of the sticks they are much lighter, I could tell right away when I started playing a song, they felt shorter as well, also the noise of the drums was more hollow instead of the "thud" that I heard before, they are way more sensitive befoe I could kind of touch the skin and it wouldn't register now I barely touch and it regisaters, another thing I noticed the kick pedal felt weaker too and the plastic is different I will even say cheaper, the D-pad is very loose noe very easy to use which was really stiff on my old drum kit to the point that I had to really put pressure on it to make it work and for some reason the whole kit felt narrower.

On the guitar not much changed it's working and the only difference I noticed on this were the fret buttons were stiffer but nothing else.

I would say to Harmonix are there more than one type of manufacture for this peripheral? and if there is which ones are the best ones so we wont run into trouble, also why if you are going to send the work to so many different manufacturers why didn't you make sure that the build and materials used were all of the same quality?

Mine says 10/27 and my red drum pad just stopped responding to anything other than slow 1..1..1 taps. Highway star on hard is absolutely impossible...so frustrated

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in;

The Rock Band that I purchased today, had a PINK LETTER inside of the box right when you opened it stating if anything was wrong, to go to EA's site, which was supplied with a URL and not return to RETAILER at all. It was for a 60-day hardware warrenty.

Also, on the side of the box, it was dated Oct. 15th 2007 with a white sticker.

Is there like a bad batch out there with a certain date on it. So far, all my equiptment has been working.

I have the pink letter with the date being 10.24.2007

the issues that I have are:
1) the guitar (micro switches) doesn't register on some notes. I mastered GH and GH2 so I know my rythm isn't off so it must be the harware
2) the same can be said for the drums... I'm on easy and I'm not very good, but I know I'm going with the beat but it still doesn't register all the time

I have calibrated so that shouldn't be an issue.

nothing has broke (yet) but it does seem like the guitar especially is of lower quality for the price I paid. the GH guitar is amazing...

I'm hoping that some 3rd party will come up with a better solution.

My date is 9/28/07 and my model number is 822149 for the drums. So far the drums have seemed to be working fine, except to things like fast snare rolls, in which case it doesn't completely register them at all. At first I thought it was just that I was missing them, but it seems like it may be a bad red drum. As for my guitar, the model number is 822152 and I haven't personally experienced too many problems, as my strum bar does work up and down, however my brother and I have noticed a significant difference in the accuracy of the strumming, though we're not entirely sure if that's due to the guitar or the increased difficulty in the timing within the game.

I found this thread on a search for "Hardware Issues", and it was the only thread that came up. Will do more searches after posting this, but in the meantime:

My Strat came out-of-the-box with a shoddy strum bar. At first I thought RB was just significantly more difficult on Medium that any of the GH games. And then I began to notice that I was VERY clearly hitting the strum bar with the correct timing, and it still wasn't registering. I think the paper that came in my box (that said "don't return faulty hardware to retailer...") was Pink. I no longer have the main boxes, so other sticker colors, etc I don't know. I used the Normal return option to avoid having my debit card funds held until EA received my old Strat. The empty box arrived quickly and I expect to have my new Strat within a day or so.

My suspicions that it was the new guitar were confirmed when I hooked up my GH3 Les Paul... works just like always. I'm just missing out on valuable learning time with the higher fret buttons.

And now I'm worried that something is going to go wrong with the drums, which I tend to play more than the guitar. I've heard repeated reports of bass pedals breaking, are there other drum hardware issues I should be looking out for?

True, because this actually impacts PS3 owners, too!

My brother bought RockBand this last weekend and it had a label with the same date as yours.

My box was dated Oct. 13, 2007. So far the drums are working fine except for the yellow drum not always picking up the hit, mostly during faster drum parts. Also, the guitar that I got was junk! First, the whammy bar broke after only 2 days of use and then 2 days later the strum bar started the double note thing and missing notes altogether. I am currently waiting for my box to ship the guitar back and get a replacement. I am going to wait a couple of weeks and see how the drums do and I will send them back for a replacement if the yellow drum keeps messing up. I believe that the date of Oct. 13, 2007 is the date that everything was packed into the box. If I read correctly, my guitar box had a sticker with the date Sept. 27, 2007. Hopefully EA will fix the instrument issues very soon.

I've got a box dated OCT-30-07

Guitar either doesn't strum or double strums....I've only seen OCT-31-07 models since I bought mine. Yellow stickers on all. Hopefully November manufactured adopters will recieve new hardware.
