So I bought it. Not what I was thinking it was going to be. My wife an I dont understand the format!! Why do you have to play the same songs over and over and over in world tour mode. We beat NY and then we go somewhere else and we have to play the same songs again and again. Why??? Is there something we are missing? What does the 9 out of 10 mean when your looking at a level? I am ready to sell this thing but I want to make sure we understand it completely before we do. Is there a manual of how the levels work or how to make song lists?

Someone help!!!

Seriously, We have all the guitar heroes and we are way confused on the format of this game and how to understand what all the jargon means in the beginning of a set.. Also the guitar is a piece of crap too. Dont like the mushy feeling on the strum bar.

You should beat the solo mode to unlock more songs for BWT.

Oh God... there have been so many threads about this...

But to answer you... sorry, but that's just how it is, we've all had the problem of songs repeating. You can download some of the DLC if you can play it well enough, maybe that'll vary it. After a while I saw more variation, just stick with it. Also, don't complain about the guitar, you can use a Guitar Hero controller if you prefer the click.

If you don't unlock all the songs first, you will have to play the same ones over and over, because it picks from a small pool of available songs.

Thanks all so far. We will play all of them in single mode first. I wanted to throw the guitar though the Tv after I heard the same songs over and over and over. Some of these begining songs suck really bad. Id rather pull my toenails out with a pair of pliers instead of having to hear them again.

I am still searching the forums to find out what everything else means as well. Thanks again.

The 9/10 thing could mean two things, but sort of just one thing. I'm pretty sure its the number of stars you have/number of stars you could have in that particular city. If you're looking within the city, at the different gigs, then it means the same thing, but for that particular gig.

So if a gig is 2 songs, and you played the gig and got 4 stars on one song, and 5 on the second, that's where the 9/10 comes from. Since it'd take up too much space to show you 9 stars, they just show 1, and then put the amount/total in numbers. If you play on longer setlists, like the 13 song ones, you'll see xx/65.

You can also unlock the songs in BWT by choosing to play the gigs that open up those songs. If you haven't unlocked enough stars to get the van/bus/jet to open up new gigs, you haven't accessed the new cities which open up the new gigs which open up the new songs.

... and so forth.

It is all about what you choose to do.

If you sit in one single city and play absolutely every set in absolutely every gig, start to finish, then move on, you're going to play the same songs over and over and over.

If you go "on tour", visit each new city, then every city has new songs in it. You go there, use the new cities to open up the new songs, then return to your old gigs armed with your new songs in your repertoire and play the "make your own setlist" and "mystery setlist" style challenges, etc.

... and make sure to call your manager! (yellow button!)

He gives good advice as to what/where you should be going!

In fact, he tells you *exactly* where he thinks you should be heading next, to get the next cool thing, be it a bus, a jet, a sound guy, etc.

Okay, so we've seen a lot of information on ways to unlock songs for mystery setlists in BWT... I am not playing the game yet, but I do want to have as much info as possible for that day (Christmas), so...

Can anyone here confirm by experiencing it in the game that completing songs with your character in solo mode causes those songs to be "unlocked" for BWT mode? If so, does that go for any character in the band, or only for the band leader?

Has anyone completed a few gigs in BWT that contained several songs but continued to see the exact same 2-3 songs appear over and over in mystery setlists?

Has anyone bought DLC but still saw the same 2-3 songs appear in mystery setlists without their DLC to shore it up?

Unless he's playing on the PS3, because for the moment you can't use any other guitar.

To answer your first bit: Yes, songs I unlocked in solo play showed up in BWT. It was from my guitarist's character (my drummer is the band leader)... the guitarist wasn't even part of the BWT band when it came up.

No help with your 2nd question. And, I haven't had DLC show up at all yet in BWT. (I haven't really played a whole lot of BWT.)

But you were logged in under the XBox Live/PSN account under which you had unlocked those songs? If so, that would mean that the unlocked songs aren't even associated with a given bandmember as they are with the account holder...

Thanks for the info.

Correct, all of these characters are associated with my XBL account.

Here is my experience, and how I know how it works.

My wife and I each started up a character (each on our own gamer profile account) and started a band using band world tour. We used each new gig to play the new song, and then would construct a setlist. We got the van, opened up new cities, and went there without "finishing" the first city. We visited all the cities to open up all the songs first, then returned to the gigs and did the "construct a setlist" challenges, and then the "mystery setlist" challenges.

We *definitely* didn't feel that we had to play the same songs over and over and over again.

Yes, we felt that there was some repetition, but generally it was along the lines of "oh, good, we liked this song" or "oh, good, we got 5 stars on this one, we could use the boost".

We'd opened up about half the songs this way.

I have since gone through and used different characters on different instruments to open up various tiers on those instruments, and this would "unlock" new songs for my entire gamer profile. Thus, so long as my gamer profile was logged in, those songs were accessible for band quickplay. It was nice because I didn't have to finish just one instrument to do it. It probably would've been quicker to just do one instrument, but I was having more fun switching around.

I don't believe you have to be the leader, though, because my wife (as band leader) has *not* finished the same songs, but so long as my gamer profile is logged into the band, we can access any of the songs for our "construct a setlist" challenges.

I assume they're also accessible for the "mystery" or "random" setlists.

/////////////

Seriously, though. The lessons is ...
a) don't "finish" a city ... just do the gigs until you get transportation to more cities, then go there and unlock new songs (always new songs at new cities)

b) then go back and finish the gigs/sets you skipped along the way

c) call your manager for good ideas as to what you need to be "working on" next. eg. "to get a bus you need more stars in Los Angeles", etc.

//////////////////

It was *way* more fun to unlock the songs with somebody else, and have to just sight-read everything and know that your band could fail because you'd never tried a song before, and had no idea if it was easy or difficult.

Furthermore, and more importantly, remember that the tiers for different instruments are different, too, and the compilation of those is the "difficulty rating" for both band quickplay and Band World Tour. Thus, while the guitarists might all be thinking of a song as "easy" because it was on the first tier of the unlocked songs for them, but that doesn't mean it is a first tier song for drums or vocals. This gets to be fairly important pretty quickly.

Example: As a band, we hit "Suffragette city" about 3 hours in, and as the vocalist I thought the song was a bit of a challenge on Hard. Everybody else thought it was no big deal, just the next logical step in the progression. Sure enough, under band quickplay it is listed as a tier-5 "solid" song, but under vocalist solo it is listed as a tier 9 "nightmare" song. There are songs with a similar disparity for every instrument, when compared to other instruments, and when compared to the Band Quickplay general difficulty level.

So unlocking all the songs under one instrument just to throw them at everybody is not necessarily the smart way to go, if only for that reason!

i have to sing and play guitar at the same time.

i have unlocked alot of songs through solo careers.

so when it came time to setlists not many songs repeated at all.

BUT, when the time for challenges came up like to get the van , the bus, or roadies, if the option was there i would choose create a setlist. then i would pick songs that i knew i would do well at.

this is where repetition would come in . you also need to keep in mind this is band world tour. just like in a real band, there are songs you are going to keep playing over and over and over. as of now, if i need to do really good in a setlist, the songs that i WILL put in there since i can 5 star them are bon jovi, creep, say it ain't so, should i stay or should i go.
i used these songs to beat the challenges, etc, etc. but it doesn't bother me as much since i know i will have a reward when it's over.
