BIG PROBLEM. Got new Xbox, old one died. Did I lose ALL data??

First, I got the red rings, and the system refused to function, so I took it to Best Buy (2 year warranty plan on the system) where they did an even exchange from my old 20GB to a 60GB.

They said I couldn't keep the 20GB HDD, so I figured it wouldn't be a problem getting all the Rock Band DLC songs back, because I can just retrieve my gamertag on the new console.

Well the songs downloaded great, and I put all my Rock Band 2 data on a memory card to back it up.

Now, when I try to play on the new console, I can't play DLC unless I'm connected online, and ALL my band/character data is GONE. I copied the backed up data on to the new HDD, but nothing shows up, not even the songs I had unlocked.

Any suggestions on how to fix these issues, or am I basically screwed?

Okay, quick bump/update.

I got the songs to work offline, but I can't retrieve the character/band data!

The band still "exists" in the leaderboards, and it says "created by Tango Hambre" (my gamertag).

Can someone please clarify this for me?

did you copy the game save from your memory card to the hard drive

Yes, I copied ALL my Rock Band 1 and 2 data on to a memory card and transferred it to the new HDD

I'm having the same problem pretty much. I sent my xbox in because of the red ring of death, but I kept my HDD. I downloaded all of my songs again like it said I would have to but they only work when I am online. Any suggestions??

the license transfer only helps the dlcs not the game save READ THE THREAD AGAIN!!!

Yea, I pretty much have a similar problem. 3 Red quarters, sent to XBOX, got back, re-downloaded license, can't get RB1 songs on RB2 w/o being signed into my fiance's acct. (from which we purchased the license). The 20 songs (also d'loaded under his acct) show up, but not RB1, this is a prob b/c a) he doesn't play and b) the band/player are under my acct. Gurrr. Anyone know if I can get a new gamer tag (mine's assoc. email exp. and I can't do crap online with the band or use it on another xbox) and transfer my bands/players to the new one?

I'd hate to recreate all that and have duplicate data on my profile. or will the game be smart and redownloa dit all for me? Any help is appreciated. I'd hate to ahve to spend hours unlocking everything again.

If your Save Game file is corrupted, you'll have to start over. There's no way to retrieve that data.

Yes, you'll have to create new ones. Nothing will happen to the old ones. They will live on forever in Rock Band history :)
