While chatting with a buddy about the Stratocaster...okay, mostly griping about the problems it has...we got to the part about the strum bar and how delicate it feels. It does feel easier to just strum it like a real guitar and not hold onto it in fear of it breaking. That's when he wondered if using an actual Guitar Pick would feel natural.

Hmn, we both said.

I remembered that when I had to replace the broken guitar strap to my x-plorer, the strap broke not the guitar, the new one came with a Guitar Pick.
So I went and gave it a try with I Think I'm Paranoid...whoah! It actually did feel more easier to play using the pic to easily strum up and down! Just thinking like you're playing a real guitar and subconsciously making sure that the Pick only touches the strum bar and not the guitar also helps, and after a while it actually did feel like I was plucking strings with the pick.

However, it still needs some getting used to, when playing through Day Late, Dollar Short, while trying to keep up the Pick ended up flying out of my hand and I had to finish normally, along with realizing why some guitarists have a row of Picks attached to their guitars when they play live.

Anyway, I'm surprised with how well a real Guitar Pick worked with this flimsy Stratocaster. Probably take time practicing with it more.
