Anybody else's whammy bar break?

So me and a friend were playing tonight, and the whammy bar on the new Strat broke. It lost it's spring, we can hear it rattling around inside the guitar. Now it just stays limp.

I'm not too worried about it, since the warranty is obviously still in place. I already went to the support page, and they're sending me a new axe. Hopefully it arrives in a couple days like they claim it will. And in the meantime, it's still playable, you just have to manually wobble the whammy back and forth to get the desired effect.

Just curious if this was a common problem or if this was more of an isolated incident.

But seriously, I have that rattling too, I just hope nothing breaks. My friends whammy broke on a GH2 guitar and it definitely sucks.

Mine did too.... and have the same rattling you are talking about and it sits all limp on the guitar.. sucks we have to wait for a replacement but at least they offer the 2 day air. Thank God I have my GH2/3 guitars to get me by :p

my whammy lost it's whammyness...still was springy...but the whammy clip came off the circuit board..so i opened it up and reattached it...works fine...except my PS button doesn't light up anymore even tho everything is connected

The rattling you are referring to may be the accelerometer for the Overdrive activator. I think it's nomal to hear a slight rattle.

yep my wammys gone the spring snapped and destroyed something becuase now it wont even turn on
