November 14, 2008 - When Microsoft releases the update for the Xbox 360 Dashboard on Nov. 19, the company will also kick off a contest and "Game With Fame" event where gamers can win Microsoft Points and play with celebrities over Xbox Live.

There are 1,000,000 Microsoft Points up for grabs for people who download content from Xbox Live between 6:01 AM PST on November 19th, and 11:59 PM PST on November 23rd in the following categories:


* Movie
* TV Show
* Full Arcade Game
* Xbox Originals Game
* Game Add-On
* Music Video



Prizes include:


* One Grand Prize of 500,000 MS Points
* Five 1st Prizes of 50,000 MS Points

I doubt it. I'm on the beta and it's running 100% fine. The download you have to do is extremely small, so there shouldn't even be a problem with tons of people downloading the update.

Basically think of it as a new Xbox operating system that gets put on your 360. There's nothing on the Live side that should be a problem, because all of the new stuff (Community Games, Netflix Streaming, etc) is already up on Live. It's just people without NXE can't access it.

I never win contests like this. I'm not buying my new songs for this week on Wednesday just on the remote chance I'll win, because I doubt I will. I want my Lacuna Coil songs ASAP, darn it! But good luck to anyone else who tries.

I'm going to use my brother's account to buy something so I can double my chances, or set up some silver accounts today and put 80 points on them to buy the two Crooked X songs or some other cheap songs.

Also why are they Tempting fate and encouraging more people to use Live and help it crash? I already have the NXE but when millions of people try use something at once it doesn't always end well.

doh, was saving my remaining points for either the Racounteers or the pumpkins pack on WT, guess I will just buy the girls of metal pack, was only gonna pick up 1-2 of those at a later point, but for a chance at that many points how can I pass it up, thank microsoft rockband. No word on whether multiple purcheses give you multiple chances to win, doh. I'd rather have the cash honestly, but even if they would let you sell the points code, who would buy it lol.

As far as I know (from personal experience behind the scenes w/similar contests) they get around this by having a free form of entry. We usually do this online, but they probably don't want it to be that easy...it might be that you have to snail mail a 3x5 index card to enter or something like that.
