I had the silencers for the first drumkit, but I haven't bought a new set (and have since sold my old kit), and was wondering if the silencers work as good as they did on the first kit. I would think so, but with the velocity-sensitive pads, I'm wondering if it's a good purchase idea or not.

Anybody use them yet?

I am using the BlockHead silencers that came with the Best Buy pack (silencers, pedal, sticks)..they work just fine with the RB2 set. The velocity sensitivity isn't affected at all and the rebound is better in my opinion. The RB2 drums naked are pretty quiet compared to the RB1 set too.

I have the 360 EL RB2 drum pads and installed the official silenciers and they works super fine, sensitivity still there too and the thick rubber will prevent the plastic underneath the pad to break appart.

Only drawback is that you have to remove the silver ring from each pad otherwise they won't stick completly flat.

To do that, pry each pad leg to remove the pad completly from the unit but be careful so you won't tear the tiny electric wire and after, remove the 5 screws that hold the silver ring.

Or you may try to cut the rubber too it's up to you.

Did not lose any sensitivity. One other option to try first or also with it is to go to a real drumming store............. not on ebay or some aftermarket because i have read people saying tips fall off, but a true music shop and buy a pair of thick heavy duty rubber tipped drum sticks. The brand I bought was vic firth rubber tipped and they helped tremendously.......... I have since given the kids rock band 2 today and silencers. The silencers work great and the firth rubber tipped sticks even helped more........... Hope this helps. PS sticks cost me under 10 dollars and you very possibly may be happy with them alone.......... One last thing, the pad not sitting completely flat because of grey ring is not an issue here. Yes it is slightly raised but no big deal.....
