This is why I hate the great American hype machine. We all got so excited at the prospect (at least I did) of playing this game with our friends, that we built Rock Band up to be the be-all and end-all of music games.

The really sad part is that it COULD have been, if Harmonix and EA hadn't completely and totally dropped the ball.

Between the flimsy, cheap, plastic instruments (I could buy a toy for my cousin that would be larger and more durable for $20), and the lies (PS3 owners who bought GHIII were peed on not once, but twice, once by Activision/Neversoft and a second time by EA/Harmonix), and the incredibly crappy release scheme (let's rush our badly-made peripheral bundles to market two and a half months before making badly-made replacement/additional single peripherals available, oh, and, I almost forgot, let's screw over PS3 owners entirely by making it impossible to have a band of all four players unless you buy TWO bundles) I am very, VERY surprised and upset that neither Sony or the Better Business Bureau is taking anyone to task for this.

In my opinion, the game itself is the only thing they did right. I like most of the songs, it is fun to play with three people (can't try four, I own a PS3). The only problems I have with the game itself are tiny, and have already been mentioned. Unfortunately, the peripheral problems are gargantuan in comparison, and are enough to severely piss me off.

Shouldn't someone be made to answer for this atrocity? Leave Sean out of this, they must hate him at Harmonix, since it's his job to deal with all the anger around here. Why isn't anyone taking responsibility over there? Step up, admit you made a mistake, and then work to FIX it. Not a sloppy fix, not a quick fix, make it RIGHT.

I feel like I've been ripped off. Like Harmonix/EA straight up stole my money. But that's not the worst of it. I had my aunt and uncle and my 9-year-old cousin over today to play. We could only do a three-person band, because, well, we're PS3 owners, and at Harmonix/EA, that means we automatically get the shaft. I let my cousin play the drums, and we were in the middle of I Think I'm Paranoid when the foot pedal snapped in two. I'd had the thing for maybe a total of twelve hours, and my cousin weighs half of what I do, and he wasn't thrashing on it, either. He started crying because he broke my drums. I had to stand there and tell him that it wasn't his fault.

So now Harmonix/EA owes me bigtime. I want a replacement drum pedal. I want a second Fender, made with better materials and planning, since by all accounts, my Fender, although it's fine for the moment, will break the next time I look at it. I want my money returned to me as part of their apology. I also want a written apology from the CEO's of both Harmonix and Electronic Arts, as well as an in-person verbal apology from those same people. And finally, I want those two CEO's to tell my cousin to his face that it was THEIR fault the drum pedal broke.

Maybe then I'll forgive them. Or maybe not. I don't think I've ever been so angry in my life.

Anything else you want? Maybe a BJ? /end sarcasm.

get over it, this happened to quite a bit of people, you are not the only one. Follow the technical support forum and you will receive your replacement part.

I can understand your anger. Guitar Hero 3 just got released here in Denmark and you were only able to buy the game with one guitar or the game alone.
So I have to buy 2 games to get 2 guitars......

If the guitar breaks after 12 hours I would get angry too.

You're really rather funny, you know that? You ever consider a career in comedy? /end sarcasm.

This makes no sense. If it had happened to me and only me, I'd just shrug my shoulders and get tech support to send me another. Then I'd get over it. But as you say, this is happening to a TON of people. What guarantee do I have that the replacement will last longer than three days? None. None at all. The peripherals are substandard at best, so I'm not going to 'get over it' until it is made right.

I would like to know what the failure rate for these periphs really are?Becuase it seems to me that almost every one that I have talked to about this have had some problem or another .Can EA/HMX really be proud of this kind of shoty quality that has been put in to their peripherals?Maybe they should have contracted Redoctane make them!

Anyone notice the quality difference in the Les Paul?It is solid. My SG is more solid then this peace of junk, and I have had that for over a year with NO PROBLEMS!

I to have a PS3 and I dont have the option to use an xplorer or the Les Paul unlike the 360 owners, which I might add is bullsh!t.So when my Strat doesn't work I can send it back to EA for another Strat that will not last more then 3 days.If I had other options I may not be so pissed, but I don't.

And it doesn't seem to me that EA/HMX give a sh!t any way.No word on wheather they are going to fix this problem.

From what it sounds like , the replacement ones are most likely the newer batch of guitars, people have not been having problems with the batch from 10/28 date.

I haven't had any problems from my guitar and the box was marked 10/16 =\

And man you need to chill, get a replacement. More than likely the replacements shouldn't have any problems at all. Unless you still have this temper of yours and decide to use a chainsaw as a guitar pick.

Use the time waiting on the guitar to get replaced to get good at the drums. They seem like the hardest part of the game to master.

I know I have to. :(

Just as a note, EA was responsible for the peripherals, not HMX, so blame them. HMX did there job, and well. EA dropped the QC ball on the toys though. I'm not much of an optimist, but I'm pretty sure the folks in charge of the guitars and drums are running in circles trying to get this problem rectified. Keep the faith brother. This is a great game and just hope upon hope that this gets fixed.

P.S. Please stop beating up the HMX/EA folks about the GHIII guitar. That is not their fault. It's not their device. If anything, I see it as a shortfall of Red Octane/Neversoft (and Sony if you really think about it). They would get more purchases if they would have worked with EA/Harmonix to make sure the guitars were compatible, but they didn't. They coded their controller all wonky and now those who don't care for GHIII have no reason to buy it. Just my 2 cents.

Absolutely. Even the GH III PS3 folks were mad at the fact that the LP did not work with GH I and II. The real blame should lie with Sony - who did not make the wireless protocol used by the six-axis available to developers - making everyone do the stupid dongle routine.

Bluetooth guitars would have been awesome.

Well Im on the list of crap. I bought the Ps3 version of RB and like everyone and their mama's my stupid GH3 guitar wont work with RB. Has anyone seen any mentions of anyone getting up and saying their going to make a patch to fix this damn problem. Im not about to spend another dime to get this crap to work. Like me, there must be a lot of other people thinking the same way, why spend more money with Harmonix when they give false promises with crap that keeps on breaking. Here let me think let me go and spend another $60 on a guitar that will last me 11 hours or less.
