So I have developed a bad habit of hearing a song I like and bein like, this should be in rockband. This has got me neglecting alot of my favorite music. So list some artists you really like that don't belong in the game.
Fiona Apple, liked her first couple of singles but when I heard her cover of Across the Universe I was a fan.
Puscifer, when I first heard the album I wasn't impressed b/c I was hoping for something along the lines of tool/apc, but it's mostly pretty groovy.
Thom York, love the solo album, harrowdown hill is a pretty amazing song.
Feist, not sure if I'm a fan yet, I love the videos and her performance on the colbert report showed me she was more than just good videos.
I want to say beck, but he has been featured on the game already, I guess it just depends on the song, alot of my favs wouldn't work on the game.
that's about all I can think right now

Haha this is a smart thread.
Atreyu are amazing to me. Alot of people went off them because of there new-ish stuff but I still love 'em.
Dead Poetic are good too
Funeral For a Friend and Fightstar are amazing too :]

I think almost everything deserves a place. I like to think of Rock Band as something that can stretch about anywhere musically, or even as an outline of the history of rock, or even the history of music.

what about songs without guitar/bass/drums. for example electronic music, piano music, just really mellow laid back stuff. I realize that other instruments can be mapped to guitar, but it would be much better to listen to than to play for the most part. Electronic could translate well, but there are some drum beats you would have to be inhuman to play. Perfect example

I love some Kanye every now and again. But that definitely doesn't belong in Rock Band. Same with Lupe Fiasco.

I would love me some Fiona Apple in the game. It would rock my socks off.

Thw White Stripes, I guess.
No bass kinda disqualifies them I think.

Most CSNY doesn't I guess, due to the lack of major percussion.

The Polyphonic Spree. Sure they have the four basic elements to a rock band, but the fact that there are 22 other members in the band playing other instraments and singing would make it really hard to translate thier music into a playable format.

Leonardo Da Vinci.
He doesn't even play an instrument.

Leonardo Da Vinci.
He doesn't even play an instrument.
But he is the inspiration for a very cool album (http://www.answers.com/topic/leonardo-the-absolute-man)which wouldn't be half bad for Rock Band.
Personally I'd pick most of Tori Amos' songs (too piano-centered, even if they have a full band) and my favorite Radiohead album, Kid A.

Cinema Bizarre (I just want the band in there as well as Porcelain and the Tramps) but I still can't find anything wrong with the choices
Unless I say something like Despair (Japanese Band) then its mostly no band element in it...much

I'd have to say Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Radiohead (Kid A, at least), and Sigur Rós.
Also, props to the OP for mentioning Thom Yorke and Beck. For Beck, it depends on the song, but there are definitely plenty that would work, like Jack-Ass and most of the songs from Modern Guilt. For Thom Yorke, there's one song that would work (Black Swan) but it would have something like 16 edits, so I wouldn't even want it in the game.
