I just rented it and i was playing medium and i was like wtf? Its med is like gh3 easy. I am just playing easy just so i can getused to the songs then going on hard. I did a few songs and they seamed not that hard but I wonder why they are easier to play.

Because GH3 is too unrealistic in its notes and they make it so hard it stops being fun. Rock Band on the other hand looks a bloody lot more fun, still a challenge but nto a challenge that takes 3 months of constant playing to beat thank god. I prefer fun over extremely hard games.

Couldn't agree more. GHIII depresses me it's so frustrating!

GH3 = Competitors, RB = For family

Some of the RB songs are kinda hard on expert but it's really no different than GH2 tbh. After playing GH3 I realized they just tried too hard to please the "Omg I can beat your ass at plastic guitar" fanboys therefore ruining the fun and making it really frustrating and the only way to actually be good at the game is if you drop out of school and live in your parents basement the rest of your life. Where as to Rock Band just about anyone can pick it up and jump into it on easy/medium. But it's not to the point where someone can jump in and start playing Expert right off the bat either.

The main reason GH3 is like that is because they have kids that make "good" custom notecharts that have no idea what a killswitch really does on a guitar making the songs. That's a big downfall for GH3 because the guitar parts in it doesn't feel "natural" it just feels like someone ate green, red, yellow, blue, orange paint and **** it all over a conveyer belt and you're watching it scroll by as you smack furiously at buttons.

It might just be me, but owning both games I like RB a lot better for the fact that I don't have to spend hours and hours in practice just to nail one part of a song, I personally like the classic guitar hero feeling of fun but a bit challenging at the same time. And no this isn't coming from a kid that couldn't beat jordan. ( I actually did beat it and I have freebird 5* on expert which really wasn't that hard and no I'm not bragging I'm just explaining. )

Anyways that's my little rant for tonight, I spent a good 8 hours in BWT mode with my sister and her friend and i'm completely worn out.

Yup, that's what I've been saying to people. I loved the Guitar Hero games because even though you knew it was a video game, there were times, with the note charts being so good that you felt really involved in the music. Guitar Hero III just feels like you're playing a game, a mean the boss battles alone are a pure video game idea and it's clear Neversoft will be pushing it further and further in that direction. Which is really not the point of music rhythm games if you ask me. Bar a few songs, I just find playing GH III tedious and boring or frustrating to the point of insanity!

I just rented it and i was playing medium and i was like wtf? Its med is like gh3 easy... I did a few songs and they seamed not that hard but I wonder why they are easier to play.

Every preview/review published for the last 3 months has talked about this. GH is focused on single player speed and timing, while RB is focused on multplie players getting timing right. Nirvana's "In Bloom" on medium in RB is about how easy it is for a real guitarist. I can play the damn thing in my sleep in real life.

The notecharters for Guitar Hero 3 were on crack. They chart notes that are amience (One on easy), keyboard (Through the Fire and Flames), and notes that just aren't there (Welcome to the Jungle).

They chose "realism" over fun and I'm glad Rock Band didn't do that.

as i said before and will keep saying it,
harmonix note charts stay true to the music. i would rather have that than
made up note charts like in GH3. i had a hard time playing gh3 cuz the notecharts didn't match the music.

i'd rather strum the same one note in a whole song if that is true to the song than i would finger random frets just for difficulty that don't match the song.

If a guitar has 6 strings and RB/GH has only 5 buttons then how the hell are the notes supposed to be realistic?

Are they using REAL tabs or something?

The Devil Went Down To Georgia and TTFAF are impossible for me, I can get to the end of ONE then I die, and Raining Blood... Once it starts my little rock meter crashes and burns.

I've got a friend though who can play any song on it, he's a freak of nature, he walks around the room talking to people while he plays. The first night he got it he didn't even have to practice, he went straight to expert and beat the whole game that night.

Those of you complaining about how hard guitar hero 3 is... thats down right rediculous for u to think EXPERT is to hard... its called expert cause usually it takes ALOT of practice to become an expert at something..you wanna be able to beat EXPERT the first night with no prior exp.... dont think so... quit whining and stick to medium :p

We're not complaining that it's harder, it's difficulty was artificially inflated by note charts that make absolutely no sense by people who make those "custom notecharts" you see on youtube.

expert maybe inflated with unrealistic note charts but.. as an expert player thats what i want after awhile.. same ol weak note charts are boring i want something that i can't beat right away untill i play through a few times... thats the challenge of expert.. RB expert has very few parts i couldnt breeze through (Green Grass & High Tides) only song that was super tough other then that meh... coulda been abit more of a challenge on expert if u ask me...

Well most of the people who bought this game knew that it wasn't going to be guitar oriented. That's the point. It's for people to play together. It's quite obvious that this game is easier than GH3, but after playing some of the terrible note charts *cough* Slayer - Raining Blood *cough* it turned me off from GH3. I'm also an expert player too, but when it starts to reach the level of unrealism for the sake of being difficult it's not my cup of tea.

The last tier on this game was difficult. When you add those DLC Metallica tracks on top of it, there are some very tough songs.

It seems like you enjoy a real challenge when you play guitar then GH3 is definitely for you.
