after barely any time with the game, i felt the drum petal loosen on a song and all of a suddent, there were 3 pieces at my feet. a spring, a rectangle with a cord going into it, and then a petal. I was looking to see if anyone else had this probelm because i didnt see it. The plastic cracked right at the pivot point. I have it reinforced with a lot of tape for now until my new one comes. So far no issues though with the guitar and i hope it stays that way.

This happened to me just last night. I was going to make my own post about it before I saw this one. I do not play it too hard, either. I have played real drums for 8 years and know it doesn't have to be slammed on to work, especially when it's basically just a trigger, and how hard you hit it doesn't affect how it sounds.
So may I ask how you requested a new one? I saw the link for EA's support, but I saw some scary text that said something to the effect of "We cannot accept returns of items that look damaged beyond normal wear." I don't want EA to charge me $125 for a new pedal because they decided the one I sent them back is not qualified for warranty. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

i think u will be fine on a return for it. First of all, it is a complete jip that they are charging 125 for a foot petal. Also, i think they can tell that it just happened assuming urs cracked clean like mine did. If it was thrown against the wall or something, it would look different. Not to mention that a pivot point is an easy spot for something to break. IGN wrote in thier review that the same thing happened on their pre production unit and they said the new ones look reinforced. i guess not. Not to mention, the people doing refunds are not paying for them, they probably receive the piece and throw the broken ones into boxes without analyzingf the damage. Also, i dont think its legal for them to charge you without telling you first that you would need to be charged. Mine is taped till the new one gets here next week and its wobbling alot. Whatever i just hope they fix all issues soon

Cracked right in half - PS3 version. Got it on launch day, had ONE party (which it survived) then my gf was playing it and its now broken. I bought a 2 year replacement plan on it from Best Buy but at this rate I might just return it, I don't want to have to deal with warranty replacement once a friggin week.

Did the pivot point on the base crack, or the hinge on the actual pedal part itself? (The cord with the rectangle - did the holes crack out, or did the pedal part crack?) Can you post a picture maybe Please?

I feel mine will break in half soon. It is very fragile right now. I'd like to find a way to modify a real pedal to work with the game. I have an old Pearl single bass pedal lying around that would be perfect.

Mine snapped right in half....I don't see how getting a replacement one will help, that one will snap in half, too, I'm sure.

Mine snapped in half as well. I was at the end of Highway Star too, so I couldn't complete it ;_:.
Back to the point, I'm trying to figure out if I should just return it to Best Buy or get a replacement from Harmonix(both my Guitar and Foot Pedal are dead). But yeah...I'm pretyy peeved about it.

my pedal just cracked as well. the plastic broke in half, right where the heel attaches to the base of the pedal; there's one little piece of plastic still attached to the metal rod at the base of the heel, and the rest of the pedal is still attached to the spring.
i just ordered a replacement, but i hope they beef these up because i'm going to crack the next one too, guaranteed. i'm a heel-up drummer, which means i'm stomping on it pretty hard (i play that way on a real drumset as well).
combined with the fact that my guitar strum bar didn't work right out of the box, i'm really bummed out; i've gone from 4-player to 2-player in just a few days.

This is exactly what happened to mine. Small piece on the rod, the rest snapped. I can try and get up a picture tomorrow although im having some problems with my camera. Im having as much fun as a i can with a wobbly foot petal, the duct tape is at least holding up for the time being

That picture looks really bad, mine wasnt like that, that picture looks like physical abuse like someone failed too much and threw it at a wall. I couldnt even do that if i wanted to cause i dont have enough plastic at the bottom to attach the metal braces to. Not to mention i play bare feet quite a bit and it seems like it could hurt.
on another note, my guitar strum bar has become extremely loose, i can move it a good amount up and down with out any tention on it, it wasnt like that when i got it. is this a sign of breakage?? i really hope harmonix is recreating their designs and extending warenties because otherwise this is gonna happen time after time.
Anyone know if the new part starts the 60 day warrenty over?

Heres where mine first cracked. As you can see, i super glued the crack, super glued on a piece of wood, and taped on the wood.

Crack # 2. Its near the hinge.

Another angle.

Hope they'll accept it when i return it (providing i take off the tape and wood).

God forbid that they put a real piece of metal on these or in the guitar. I would hate to pay a few more dollars for a solid piece of hardware.....

Im sorry to say that i doubt they will accept anything with super glue on it, hence the reason all i used was tape. Seeing other peoples pictures though, mine doesnt look so bad, i have a clean cut near the rod with the smallest piece of plastic on the rod.
I was thinking about painting my guitar red like i painted my guitar hero one and i think that voids the warrentee, so unless they start fixing guitars, its no red for me.

I would pay much more for better hardware. When they announced the game at 170, i thought it was fairly low, i thought it was gonna be in the 200-225 range. I thought i was getting a bargain at that price but i guess not.
Lets assume this: The game is 60 alone, if the guitar costs the same amount alone as the guitar hero one then its 60 dollars, a bit outrageous since i was at circuit city yesterday to find a bass and they had the X-plorer guitars alone for 60 and then the guitar with guitar hero 2 for 60. Anyways, so we're up to 120, not to mention that the rockband guitar probably costs more due to additional fret buttons and the wah-wah switch. That leaves 50 dollars for the drums and mic. The mic is probably 20 just like the sing-star ones leaving 30 for the drum set. a little cheap?? Or are they trying to tell us that each piece is 100 or more dollars, it said if i do not return my broken foot petal, its 100 dollars that the part costs, plus a 25 dollar restock fee. JUST FOR A PETAL?
A final thought: I remember in an early press release of the game, Harmonix came out to say that they were very proud that their new guitar doesnt make clicking noises. Well, i have opened a guitar hero guitar before and i have heard what the inside of a rockband one looks like and they are different. The guitar hero guitar's strum bar is locked into place and every time you move it, it spins a gear clicking a button that registers a strum, sorta like a timer for a light. Rock Band's strum bar has 2 pieces of metal on it, when u push down, the upper piece of metal is hitting another piece of metal to complete a circuit and register a strum. Eventually this is bending out of shape and not working at all. I think i would much rather have a clicking guitar than none at all. The drums would cover up the noise anyways.
