i'm actually quite unfamiliar with a lot of popular music from the past 10 years or so, but that's by choice. :)

Haha. Well, other than radio stuff. It seems like you know every band in every genre ever created. It's no fair.

It's now my mission in life to find a band afterstasis has never heard of.
...I'm going to be at this for a while.

i'm trying to think of a band he hasn't heard of, but all i can come up with is bands me and my friends started in the basement while heavily intoxicated.

How about Anal Traffic? They are a hilarious band that I ran into by typing random (profane) words into zune.

would alice spencer be our wedding singer? ;)
i'm also familiar with both of the butt-related bands mentioned earlier, but i promise you there's loads of music i'm not aware of...
i'm pretty sure i've never heard any post-grunge bands aside from nickelback and hinder, very few of the modern bands who get labeled emo/screamo that don't actually sound like emo/screamo, lil john, lil wayne, or lil carter...
the list goes on, and that's just modern mainstream.

dude that's SCARY, you had to have lived in the midwest in the early 90's lol. LOL Seriously, I actually was friends with someone who was friends with the people IN the band and didn't know about the 3mw's. They formed another band after they split up.

where's my wedding-ring, playa?!
no, i've only ever been to the midwest while out playing shows. i like living the quiet life, but not quite that quiet.
i've got a copy of a 3mw album somewhere around here, which i received from one of the band-members (i'm not sure which one) of alice spencer & her monkey butlers.

I've bought that album 4 times in the past 17 years. I bought it when it first came out in 91, on cassette, and then lost it somewhere in Israel (long story). I special ordered it a year or so later, and my sister left it in a car that she sold about 4 months afterwards. Then, I found it again at a used record store in Columbus for 99 cents. That one, my ex husband kept along with a bunch of other old cassettes. And finally, lucky number four is a cd this time, and it's the second to last physical CD I have purchased. The last is the soundtrack for streets of fire. :)
There's no way I could pass the affordable floors on you next, is there?

Afterstasis, have you heard of Sisters of Mercy Hold No Pain Against the Dark Lord? They have a great song called Silk Blood On The Footsteps Of My Mind (Revisited).

W00t! I win. They were actually quite good, in a late 80's alternative kinda way. They're actually a little more obscure than 3mw, since they weren't on a big label and I don't think they ever had a video on mtv (I know there's a 3mw video somewhere, that's how I heard of them).
My boyfriend in college worked as a promoter for the school and I stole the affordable floors tape off of him. The odd coincidence is that I was in Pittsburgh about 10 years later, running my own crappy record label, and I got a demo from a former member of the floors and his new band. That's what some call a synchronicity. It'd be like if you were a widows fan and then met them afterwards. I have another odd synchronicity that involves Buffy the Vampire slayer. one of my favorite bands ever is This Ascension, and I had the pleasure of finally playing a few shows with them around the 2nd or 3rd season of Buffy. They had a new bass player, who had just quit his punk band. I asked what his old band was, and it was Nerfherder, the band who did the theme to Buffy. Needless to say, I geeked out, but it was shortlived when Charlie said "Shut up, I hate that show."
