Disable the PS3 controller as a microphone controller?
I just tried to play Guitar Hero 3 with my regular PS3 controller and it worked!! Every button was accounted for. However I noticed that when a note appeared all I had to do was press the corresponding button and there was not a button mapped for strumming. Pressing the correct button was all it took to play the note. I can't play Rock band with the PS3 controller because the system picks it up as a microphone. Here's the fix which I'm sure you guys at Harmonix already know.......
Why don't you guys send a patch through that will allow PS3 users to use the PS3 controller as a guitar. Give it an option to make it a guitar/bass/ microphone. If done then the LP would be recognized and maybe...just maybe the buttons would be mapped correctly and then we should be able to use the LP with Rock Band. What I'm saying to everyone on this forum who are PS3 users.......This problem is definitely a Harmonix problem and not Red Octane.
It seems Red Octane uses the open standard and you guys (Harmonix) does not. It seems that maybe you guys tested the LP and found that it did work on PS3 and maintained the same mapping as a regular controller so............ you blocked it by making the regular PS3 controller a microphone default. Maybe you did this knowingly and maybe you didn't....But the point is this....
HARMONIX.....Please disable the PS3 controller from defaulting as a microphone so we can enjoy 4 player bands like Microsoft Xbox 360 because there are no other controllers out there except PS2 versions which don't work either because you have set the PS3 controller as a microphone default. I'm sure that if you where to remove that restriction all the guitars would work. PS2/ with adapters and PS3 LP.
Obviously the LP guitar is being seen as a basic PS3 controller so Harmonix please stop asking us to contact Neversoft/Red Octane/Activision when you are the ones who has the power to fix this issue with a patch......... It's your product and all you have to do is remove that restriction. What does Red Octane have to do with you removing the controller restriction.
Soon would be nice, but I guess it's cool whenever you guys feel the need to get around to it..
Thanx,
Shafted PS3 Rock Band owner who should have bought it for my Xbox 360 so I wouldn't have to deal with this bull.

seriously hmx, just figure out what button equals what on the gh3 then make a patch to where you can select what you're playing with, and the game will remap controls accordingly. Methinks summat like this: user experience
1. download magical patch of hope and joy and joyness
2. plug in guitar
3. tell the game which one you are using
4. game secretly remaps controls
5. player rocks out!
your experience:
1. have an intern go buy gh3
2. figure out what ps3 button signal is sent to the ps3 when you push a button/strum a bar/whammy a whammy on that controller.
3. make a patch that will allow players to specify which guitar they are playing with, so the game can remap it's controls accordingly
4. release patch
5. get rich quick and gain more ps3 fans!

There could be either a technical or legal hurdle in the way, such as proprietary hardware or software that they can't just go ahead and reverse engineer. They've said they're willing to do it if Red Octane is interested, which tends to support that.
I think I need to put this in my signature.

i'd think red octane would be interested...more gh3 sales and all but idk if they're even willing to talk without hmx plunking down billions.

In gameFAQS, this would be worthy to push the Ignore button to..........

why would you wanna play with the controller?
would they produce all these instruments if it was meant for a controller?
Of course not.

How are your reading and comprehension skills?..Not good, huh? The point is not to play with a controller. The point I'm making is that since the GH3 Les Paul is being seen as a controller for Harmonix to lift the default of the PS3 controller as a mic so that the Les Paul can be detected. Reading is fundemental, but I guess not on these forums.
