Gold Stars?

I was playing on my solo career and got 100% on Maps on expert and it turned the stars Gold like it does on GHIII, but then I was playing a different song, missed 2 notes (99%) and it still turned the stars gold. Does anyone know what the criteria for getting gold stars is, or did my game just screw up and think I got 100%?

i dont know i thought it was 100% but i got gold stars before i finished a song. at the end i did 100% though

I don't remember what I was playing but I was playing a bunch of songs on Easy and got 100% but the stars didn't turn gold...

i was playing the very first song on the bonus tour and missed like 2 notes, I got 99% and close to the end of the song I heard the little ring then I heard it again and I glanced over at it and the stars had turned gold.
I had a 430+ note streak.

The gold stars are no longer based on getting 100% notes; instead, there's a target score you must attain for gold stars. I've gotten 100% on a couple of songs but 5 regular stars instead of the gold stars.

You want an official answer? I have one. One of the reasons Harmonix brought us out to their studio was to show us how the scoring system works for Rock Band.

The Gold Stars are indeed a 6* rating, but not in the normal 6* that we use in our linear extended systems for the Guitar Hero series. It's probably closer to a 7.5-8* in terms of score.
