I respect this song in the most, and the artists who made it. But seriously they said it wouldn't be a challenge for the avid Guitar Hero player. And guess what? ITS A FRICKIN CHALLENGE! I get to the second guitar solo, and then that part that has the continuous green, red, and yellow notes over and over. And then just for fun, they throw a red, yellow, and blue in the same fashion just to piss us all off! I ALREADY SPENT MY ENERGY ON THE FIRST ONE JACKASSES! I thought that doing expert on this game was going to be decently easy to do, but I'm not sure if some of the songs I can't beat in GHIII is as hard as this song. I'm sure that many people have complained about this, but seriously, through all the songs, they have to make you fail unrelentlessly just as you're getting your hopes up to beating the game. THANKS A LOT! If anyone has any advice to beat those second solo parts, as previously mentioned earlier, then please let me know, because I'm going to blow a blood vessel just trying to find new ways of beating it.

The only advice I can give is practice, practice practice. Then, after all of that...practice more. :)

Try and get used to not strumming and using the smaller buttons on the guitar. When you get used to it you can just tap the trills with 2 hands.

Aside from stating the obvious (practice, use higher frets, duhr, duhr, duhr) I agree the song pwns but playing it sucks ass.
Should've been DLC. Aw, well.

I remember beating it on hard without much of a problem.
But on expert I get to the last venue and can't even beat the first song! ****e!

i agree i spent 2 hours trying to beat it i get to 85% and thats the part with the 3 buttens u were talking about. it pisses me off because the song is like 10 mins log to! and it has to be the last song too. hopefully i will beat it soon.

Yea still stuck at 95%, i have a buddy who should be able to get it done. I hand just can't keep that rhythm for that long. eventually i'll get it done, just like freebird. just sucks i have to wait until the very end.
It's funny, because the part in Raining Bloos (near the beginning) which looks much harder I can get 4x on.

That's because the window is much more forgiving.

Well if this helps at all, while I was trying, I use my GHIII guitar to get to the solo, and then pressed pause, swapped that for my new Fender Start guitar that came with Rock Band, and tried to play the part with the small buttons, but it still didn't work. But if people need some tips, that's the one I used, but I didn't get it so I'm not sure how much help it truly is.

Nah I was just reading OXMs rating of it and they said it was too easy for avid players, that's why I'm complaining. If professionals state an opinionated fact, it better be well placed, or at least have some proof behind it.

IMO rock band is harder for guitar on the tough tiers because you actually have to hit notes precisely as opposed to hitting buttons like a flailing ****** in GH3.

When I played through the guitar campaign on Hard, this was the song that absolutely kicked my @$$ over and over. SO MANY SOLOS, SO MANY NOTES...WHY?????
But it's sorta worth it. For all the feedback that the songs aren't as shredtastic, it's nice to have one that puts you back in check (not to mention some of the other songs in that tier...and the Metallica DLC...yikes)
I'll stick to the drums for now (get it?? STICK??)

Come on, people, you can't have it both ways. Either the game is too easy on guitar, or GG&HT is too difficult a song. Pick one.
Or, the more sane position: Rock Band's difficulty is well balanced to provide challenge to experts and be accessible to beginners. If you can't handle GG&HT on Expert, drop down to Hard.
If you can't handle GG&HT (drums) on Medium, exercise some more :) Or just practice; it's not difficult, it's just long and strenuous. The game's biggest test of stamina on the lower difficulty levels.

doesnt freebird have a similar patern...i hate it why do these damn 10 minute long songs always have ONE hard part that always kills u
failing isnt so bad but its when u think ur gonna win and THEN u fail thats when i wanna rip off the whammy bar and throw the guitar out the window (btw guitar games are the only games that get me this fired up )

I HATE GG&HT on EXPERT GUITAR. The 80% mark is the death of me... but I do like the song. AND... I proudly beat it on medium drums yesterday after being conviced it was impossible. :)

You can debate the relative merits of this song all day - in art, it's tough to be right or wrong since it's (usually) a matter of taste. My problem with this song is that its inclusion is derivative - it's a weak sauce replacement for "Freebird" ... which is fairly weak sauce to being with (IMHO). I guess I don't get the whole southern rock anthem tunes.
My main beef is that I expected a bit more than retreading an old idea, I s'pose.

BURN THE Faux-Harmonix witch!
Turns out, I more "crisp" than burn. But I am a Harmonix Employee :) I sit across from Sean and the community Team (including HMXJohnlok, or as I call him "Johnny V"...or DAMNIT I ASKED FOR AN APPLE JUICE BOX! WHAT IS THIS BERRY SH!T!??!) and thus am constantly hearing about the boards. Now that I've been home in Chicago for 3 days without HMX love, I decided to finally rock out on the boards a bit. And it has been fun times...
Heading back to Boston tomorrow (where i live with 2 other HMX employees!). Psyched to get back to work!

The first time I finished GGHT on guitar, I looked up and asked "Why am I on the floor?" My fiance replied that when I finished the song, my character dropped the guitar and fell over. Pure awesomeness.
That's also the song that took me from "hey I'm pretty good at drums" to "jesus christ my arms are going to fall off this song is evil please god make it stop oh thank god its over and how in the hell did i get four stars".

This songs a pain. T_T I can beat it on Hard easily, but if I play expert the solos just tear me to shreds. Sorta like Train Kept a Rollin'.. well maybe not so much.
I'm stuck on the last tier with this song and TKAR. If I could beat them I'd be happy and start on my other carrers more.. I really miss Freebird when it comes to this song. T_T..

When I beat it on Hard, my character dropped his guitar and fell over. I was dying laughing. It was pretty easy on Hard, but the one time I tried it on Expert the second solo kicked my butt, too. When I get a working Strat back I'm definitely going to try the solo buttons.

I finally sat down and started practicing using the solo buttons. They are uber cool but pretty hard to master. On amplitude I can play insane difficulty using the face buttons but here I was somehow missing the timing. eitehr way it makes all that much more rewarding once I get it.
When we played green gras and high tides on co-op my buddy who is a bit better than me on expert lost all of his chances and was barely able to get through the solo with me saving him on drums. When I went to practice mode with the solo buttons I still stunk it up but I knew that if I kept at it I can get it eventually.

Only one tip for that one, and it worked for me.
Strum every yellow. This will help you out quite a bit. Don't try to HOPO the entire thing as that will get you off really quickly. Just strum each yellow (every beat and a half I believe) and it will help you stay up with the notes and gives your fret fingers a reference point where they need to be.
Just my .02.

I can 100% the G/R/Y/R part pretty easily...it's just REALLY REALLY hard to get back on rhythm when you lose it. Just practice that rhythm, you'll pick it up after a little while.
And as far as the difficulty goes, it is too easy. GG&HT is sweet, but it's the ONLY song like that. I've yet to even get to a blinking red state on a song let alone fail one on expert. But that's not the problem at all since those songs are fun to play - the problem is the 35 other songs that are way way way too easy.

Agreed. 5* everything on site read (except my 4* on GGHT). Definitely a bit too easy for guitar. Not complaining though b/c drums are hard enough (playing on hard now) to give me a good challenge.

I love this song. I fail on expert at 84%, and want to jump out the window. But unlike most of the songs in the absurdly punishing tiers 7 and 8 on GH3, this is a song where even failing is fun ("Raining Blood," for instance, isn't fun even when I play it well). And I'm not really a Southern Rock aficionado, but this song snuck up on me and won me over.
What a great finisher it is!
Now, if I could only beat it...
