ATTENTION: Before you tell me this belongs in the wrong forums, no. Go to the forum listings and look at how many threads and posts are made in THESE forums alone compared to the others. Point made.

Alright, so I'm checking out pmpboarder's thread about the 500 songs and stuff, and I see that it's rumored for the No Doubt Singles album will be coming out as DLC the week after next week (December 09). I load up No Doubt's website and check out the discography, looking about and stuff, you know. I find the Singles Album and start listening to "It's My Life".. good song, actually.

10 seconds (or however many it was) into the song, my brother asks, "Are you listening to Tokio Hotel"? Now, that was no ordinary question. My brother listens to TONS of japanese music and j-pop/j-rock, including Tokio Hotel. You see, if my brother listened to 'normal' music, then the question would be tooken by me as sarcastic, but since he actually listens to most of that junk, I took it seriously.

Honestly, I can almost see where he is coming from. The japanese bands he listens to - Miyavi, Dir en Gre(a)y, Unsraw, and, you probably guess right, Tokio Hotel. I'm not sure if any of those bands are good as I don't listen to foreign music unless it's trance or techno, and anyone who believes in logic would know that techno or trance could constitute as 'foreign', mind the apostraphes, only used for emphisization.

Again. I can probably see where he is coming. Gwen Stafani has a unique voice, and so does the singer for Tokio Hotel. The only song I have heard from the band, though, is Monsoon, from Guitar Hero: World Tour. I hated it. Compared to No Doubt, they suck.

I don't know what other kind of content I can add to this thread, other than I'm going to download this album as a first time listener to No Doubt. I'm definately glad they only put the hits album for download. And it will be a nice addition to my mp3 player, being the first album that isn't death metal.

Does anyone else think that No Doubt and Tokio Hotel sound similar? Maybe TH was influenced?

Tokio Hotel is british. Nuff said.

Edit: It's a good thing I didn't put IN B4 FLAWLESS

You've made no point.

The content of a post decides what forum section it belongs in, not the amount of viewers each section gets.

This post has nothing to do with the game rock Band, and everything with two specific bands and a musical comparison between the two.

Hence, History of Rock.

I'm pretty sure they're German...

But yeah, this thread, as Der_Lex said very politely, is fail.

Also, they sound nothing alike, at all, ever.

Tokio Hotel is not a Japanese band. Your post loses a lot of credibility when you cannot distinguish and androgynous German guy from a Japanese one.

Wow. This thread has no point, and should thus be locked.

Because you're comparing two bands you admittedly know little about on a minimal amount of songs.

A modern German soft-rock band with an androdygnous singer really doesn't sound like a female led reggae/ska band from the 90's.

Unless of course, you're going on your basis of "they both have unique voices." In which case, Thom Yorke sounds kinda' like Ozzy Osbourne, they both have very unique voices.

Both have the ability to make my ears bleed.

"No Doubt sounds like Tokio Hotel"....?

Shouldn't that be the other way around. I'm pretty sure No Doubt's been around longer than Tokio Hotel.

Tokio Hotel is German, but if I didn't know that I would guess Japanese because the singer looks and sounds Japanese.

It seems to me that Tokio Hotel is a cheap ripoff of a Finnish band called The Rasmus, who are pretty decent IMO. But No Doubt? I don't think so. Of course, I've barely listened to the increasingly crappy post-Tragic Kingdom No Doubt, so I'm not really qualified to judge.
