I'm slowly trying my hand (and mouth) at this... I just did creep on expert guitar and vocal, and got 4.5 stars. I'll post the video as soon as it's ready... it's pretty fun.

I love the fact that I am not the only one using a box for a mic stand. I knew that there had to be a reason for all of the cardboard.

Nice mic stand!
But that wasn't bad singing at all, congrats on having the guts to be one of the, what, 5? people that has posted a RB Vocals video.

Thanks... as soon as my voice comes back I'll try again. Earlier I drove for 8hrs and I always sing as loud as I can in the car... so my voice is hurting :)
Gotta start practicing Boston.... favorite band on there!!!!

Impressive...and I thought I was doing good last night when I was doing medium guitar & medium vocals. I normally play on expert but thought I should dumb it down if I am going to sing lol. I'm going to start a one man band where I sing and play guitar. I plan on going through the solo modes first so I know how the songs are sung. I played through most of the guitar on hard. I only have 9 or ten songs left. Then I found out that the achievements are stacked. So I quit playing on hard and started on expert so I can get all 4 achievements at once. Plus it doesn't hurt to hear the songs again. Then I will play through the solo vocals. Then I will attempt guitar/vocals. I'm not in any hurry lol. I'm going to be playing this game for a long time.
I've had the game since the midnight release and tonight was the first time I played BWT mode. I love it. My brother played drums, I played guitar and I even got his wife to play bass. She started doing very well on easy so she started getting cocky. We had a mystery setlist coming up. My brother picked easy since he had no idea what songs we would have to play. He told her to do the same but she said, "It's ok...I'm not a wuss (in that tone of voice inferring that he was)," and she picked medium. So guess what song we had to play...none other than Ride the Lightning. The bass tore her head all up lol. She failed three times before it even got to the fast part. Of course my brother was like, "I told you to pick easy..." She lost us some fans lol. I just thought that was funny. I can't wait for many more moments like that.

ive got my one man band where i sing and play guitar, i've been slowly moving up, i've got around 400,000 fans and 250 stars so far. I just barely got rthough creep on expert/expert.
i wish there was a way to have a 3 person band and on stage you sing and play since they so obviously knew people would do it, it should have been a mode to play as.
at this point i'm capped out cause i can't sing as many songs on hard so i can't do the random setlists.

$14 mic stand with clip included. Clip is a bit tight on the Rock Band Mic (meaning it might scratch your mic a bit) but works.
They also have some cheap drum seats...

I do it sometimes but I can only do it with some songs and the vocals are never on expert (The game would fail the real singer probably)
Songs I can do both at once basically include:
Epic
Enter sandman
I'm so sick
Little sister
Go with the flow
Some I can do if the vocals are like on easy : (Stupid high pitch singers >:O)
Welcome home
Highway star
Tom sawyer
Foreplay/Long time
Some I can halfway do
And justice for all
Blackened
(Theres an extent of those twos lyrics I dont know... so I have to try to read the lyrics and the guitar notes at the same time and it screws me up)

I started doing this today also.. I can only do medium guitar/hard vocals... but I'm getting better... I could probably swing med guitar/expert vocals on some songs..
still pretty fun to do when everyone else is busy and can't play.

Hey Dawnstealer, how do you get it to allow you to sing on the headset and play an instrument? Are you hooking the headset into the regular game controller or the instrument itself? Do you have to join as 2 band members? Any help would be appreciated, my friends and I could not figure it out.

So far what I've been doing is mounting my microphone to my vacuum cleaner via duct tape. The handle of the vacuum cleaner is also a detachable wand with extendability, so while it's connected to the vacuum, you can actually raise it. While it's at the lowest height, it's perfect for drums, and the highest is perfect for guitar.
Anyway, yeah, I've got a World Tour going on with me drumming and singing at once. Haven't worked on it much yet, but it definitely works.
I'm gonna have to figure out how to get the microphone to double as vocals microphone, because if that works, that's a load off my plate.

In the middle of our Hall of Fame Induction setlist we paused it to go eat dinner.. when we came back down we watched some TV and our bands singer fell asleep... I had to sing the final 6 songs and play drums (med/med). Yeah... considering I had only played (and never heard prior to the game) the Molly Hatchet song and Run to the Hills, it's a miracle we got through it... But yeah, a lot of fun in a manic sort of way.

We were all playing Boston and this one dude we were playing with couldn't do anything... even on easy! So I said eff it and told him to hold the mic up to me while I rocked out the drums. Totally pulled off a Phil Collins  It was awesome

That works?!?
All this time I've been playing holding the mike with my chin with the receiver end next to my adam's apple. (Managed to 5* Foreplay/Longtime on hard/hard with that method.) Having the headset attached to the conroller and using that mike... if it's good enough at pitch detection, that would certainly make things more comfortable.

Very well done. The only song Ive done that on is "Should I stay or Should I go" only because I have the words memorized (after growing up and listening to it about 1000 times). Im able to do it on medium guitar and hard vocals.
Have not really tried any others. My voice is not good enough to make a video though lol.

No one in my house can really play past easy so it left me kinda high and dry for finishing the BWT. My brother comes over from time to time but I didn't want to wait a year to finish it. I finally decided I could do both. It isn't pretty and I wouldn't pay to see it but I am now at the Hall of Fame stage. I struggled with a lot of the songs because I just simply do not know the words. A giant light bulb came on and I realized it is much easier to play on hard if you play bass instead of guitar.

I've been doing it a little bit. I can do it on songs that I really know the vocs to, like Creep, Say it Ain't So, In Bloom and a few others but there's a good deal of songs I simply don't know the words well enough for, or the guitar will get a bit more intense and I'll forget to sing, lol.
I really wish to get better in this department though, it's really really fun to do both. There's also a fair share of times when I don't have any buddies around to rock out with so it'd be a way to do BWT by myself, altho my band is already capped for fans on medium, and aside from that very short list of songs I doubt I could do much more on hard.
Either way it's just more fun rockin out with 3 other friends anyway, the feeling you get when you nail a song is just awesome, or when you look over during a break in your insturment and you see one of your bandmates rockin out a solo, it's great.
Thanks Harmonix for the ultimate party, music, rockin' game! All that's needed now are some AC/DC tunes!

If you want to use the xbox 360 mic, you have to unplug the rock band mic and then plug the xbox mic into the controller that is on that you use for the mic contols.
I use that for both until i get a stand.
I can basically do all the songs hard guitar medium singing... but i capped out on fans and have to do hard hard to get more fans and i can do it without playing but i can't do both yet with songs i dont know well, which sucks with all the random setlists.

I just picked up the tour bus playing BWT on expert guitar/medium vocals--much more fun now that I have a mic stand and can use the RB mic. I just barely held on at the end of Foreplay/Long Time, when it's got those weird improvised vocal sections.
My big goal for solo BWT play is doing the "solo platinum artist"--completing Endless Setlist on expert/expert guitar/vocals.

Right, we know that part already, but we're trying to figure out if there's a way to plug the headset into the other instrument itself. The 360 headset cord doesn't have enough reach from my head to the ground, and I don't want to have to anchor myself near something due to the controller...
Basically, I want to play guitar and sing via the 360 headset plugged into the guitar. Someone figure out if this is possible or not. I'll send $10 your way. ;)

Ok here's 'In Bloom'. i slaughtered the vocals and read the youtube description to see why (other than my bad singing... ). This mic lag is really killing my score. But to be fair to Kurt, Nirvana has been one of my top 3 alltime favorites since they came out and i have never been able to get his pitch right lol

In other news, my ironing board is almost the perfect height for the mic, so I lay it on that now as well as the camera. The best thing is that i have room to move my legs :)
Harmonix, HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS MIC LAG, PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE :D:D

Now that I've got the mic stand working, I'm getting the hang of the guitar/vocals thing. Just got my roadies, and the random setlist that came up (expert guitar/medium vocals) was Won't Get Fooled Again, Reptilia, and Tom Sawyer. Yipes. Still, got 14 stars (and the 4 star was on Reptilia, oddly enough).

I was...until the game decided it wasn't going to pick up my voice unless I yell into the mic (I'm using the headset), which ruins my pitch and my voice. I noticed it when I saw I was getting 0% easy vocals...I mean, I'm not great, but I'm not that bad of a singer.

I don't remember who posted it, or even if it was on the thread or not, but someone mentioned this mic stand:

Anyway, I'm putting my money down for one. Just hoping the mic clip will fit the mic. I've heard sometimes they may not be compatible, so I guess we'll see.

I am so lame that I went down to Guitar Center on day 2 and bought a drum throne and mic stand and clip. It all works (and the Guitar Center dude did not think I was nuts BTW). If you buy a mic stand, spend the extra 20 bucks and get a boom. It is pretty hard to play the guitar when a mic stand is in the way and I have found that I tilt the boom significants when I do both. Also if you ever master drums you can lower the boom so you can sing while you play (good luck with that!). as far as the clip goes, it is pretty universal, jsut ask for a standard clip - you do not need the extra gizmo that you can get for the clip (whatever that's called).

i'd recommend buying a rubber mic clip for your mic stands...they are like 3 bucks at music go round and all clip sizes have been standardized since the '50's
there is more room for the rock band mic

It's not possible.
The guitar is attached to the character that is playing guitar, so the headset won't activate as vocal mic.
What I've been doing is putting the handheld controller (with headset attached) into my front left pocket (cargo pants or carpenter pants work best) with the face buttons exposed.
I haven't tried it while drumming yet, I suppose I'd put the controller on the tv tray I keep next to me for my beer and ashtray. ;)
