Thanks all for the info on how to unlock the songs for BTW. My wife and I are in the process of doing it now.

This guitar sucks. I like the fingerings and lower frets, awesome. The strum bar sucks sucks sucks. It not responsive at times it just plain sucks. Also, When you go to kick in for star power, why is there a delay some times? I dont know, I just wanted to vent a little. I am not happy with the guitar at all. I am also worried about it breaking soon. I am a guitar player outside of playing this game and again I will say its shoddy work. Bad work there whoever made it Harmonix or Red Octane!!!! Boooooohhhh!!!!

Starting to dig the game more though!!!!

Oh BTW I own a PS3, Lets work on making these other guitars compatible as well!!!! I dont want to have to go out and buy an Xbox!!!!!!! :)

I love my Strat. Everything else feels like a Fisher-Price toy.

Strum feels better to me. Less pounding.

at the song menu, hold down the strum bar to see if it continues down the list automatically, if so, it's fine.

then

go get a medium guitar pick and you'll think differently about the guitar

:)

Yeah it works fine. I am just having a hard time adjusting to the mushy feeling of the strum bar. I prefer a little bit harder of a pick though. However I am looking for a guitar to smash and burn on stage when I do my Jimmy Hendrix. Maybe this will be the one!!!! :):)

The strum bar felt a bit weird to me the first time or two I played it (no positive action on the strum? Weird), but after playing my Alvarez for a bit, then coming back to the Strat and the X-plorer, I couldn't imagine playing with anything but the Strat. The strum bar made sense. It felt more like a real guitar. I like it, a lot.

At first when I tried to play the Strat like I did my XPlorer, I wasn't too fond of it and couldn't hit fast passages. Then I switched to a light tap down strum with my thumb and I can strum faster than I could before and with less effort.

So I just asked for a new guitar from Rock band. this thing is Junk!!!!! Unresponsive, piece of ****. I asked for a new one.Does the new one work any better does anyone know? If not I may have a Rock Band for sale for PS3. I will not tolerate crap from companies. Am I pissed? yeah you bet.:mad::mad:

Personally, I couldn't be happier with either of my Strats. I was already used to the mushy strumbar from playing the game previously.

One of my friends came over and brought his Les Paul because he didn't think he'd like the Strat. Eventually I got him to switch with me, and after a couple of songs I decided there was no way I could keep playing on the Les Paul. Luckily he was easily converted, and we plugged my other Strat back in and rocked with them the rest of the night.

How much are you looking to sell it for? I might be interested.

Sounds more like operator error. Mine for the Xbox works fine. First few times took some getting used to, but other than that, it works great.

I had some response issues with the fast riffs as well, but I tried calibrating my DLP tv with the game, and since then, no problems. It was more of a delay there than with the guitar.

We have not received word on any new or updated SKUs. If you get another Strat it's built just the same.

Will it give out? Chances are as good as with the one you have now.

The consensus opinion is usually right, and just because a few people are desperately trying to convince the rest of us that we're the ones with the problems when it comes toe the guitars, I'm not falling for it. ;)

I've played all the previous guitar hero games, and I am 100% convinced this Rock Band guitar is simply never going to feel as responsive as the previous guitars. Not to mention the already insane failure rate we're already seeing. How this strum bar made it out of the testing phase is beyond my comprehension.

Your "insane failure rate" is a guesstimate at best. Nobody is going to play rock band and say, "wow, this guitar works well. I am going to find the forum for this game, create an account, and post about how good it is."

Just because a lot of people on an internet forum say that something sucks, doesn't mean that you have a consensus.

I will not tolerate crap from companies. WTF? Dude you need a life...I went to HMX warranty dept. and it is the most responsible thing I've ever seen. No talking to indian bastards who talk with their crazy dialects...no waiting three weeks to get your new stuff...no hastle...AT ALL...just let them hold your credit card number while they priority ship you a brand new guitar, then send your broken strat back in the same box, NO CHARGE, NO TROUBLE, JUST GOOD OLD FASHIONED CUSTOMER CARE! I agree the strum bar sucks compared to what your used to, but I'll try it with a pick when I get my new one, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE playing the strat as a bass...that ridge on top of the strum bar is the perfect diameter of a bass string and it feels super real if you up-strum! The fact that you used the term "companies" makes me think you are a lazy liberal communist ****** who couldn't tell his a$$ from a hole in the ground...now that's not really what you are, is it?

Hmm, let's see. Since back at E3 in July the gaming press was already saying "Woah, I don't like that Rock Band guitar at all". The writing was on the wall way back then, and since then it's been the same thing being said by everyone. The guitar sucks!

Somehow Harmonix didn't get it through their head, and now it's come full circle. The guitar still sucks.

I don't see why everyone hates the guitar. Mine is super responsive, easier to trem pick, doesn't click when you strum, (though the buttons do if you go through a faster section.) I don't think it sucks at all.

Glad I found this post. I have been trying to figure out if my guitar is broken or if I am just not doing something right. The hardest parts to play for me are any that have a continous chord/note hit. It's like I hit it the right amount of times but it just decides to skip sometimes. Like out of 10 hits it may not register 3 times. I had a friend to try it out to make sure it wasn't something I was doing and he agreed it was the guitar. Could this be the TV needs calibration? I'm not running HD, it's just a standard TV running composite input. Any help is appreciated.

Zakk,

Try the calibration. If you calibrate by type (DLP, plasma, etc) and it still doesn't work, do a Manual Calibration.

If it STILL doesn't work, it's probably the equipment (guitar).

In my case, I can now tell when its operator error, as everything else is super-responsive in my kit (except my mic, I can't cowbell anymore....but I think that's because of my Will Farrel impressions...)

my guitars down strum sucks bought it today at BB its more responsive if we use a guitar pik but my xplorer guitar works great. so we let our left handed friend use that control and flip it. the up strum works fine. still gonna send it back!. also a we put heavy wax paper on the drums to give a better drum sound and used capped sticks for a better roll.

Yup, I am pissed. So with all these responses so far on this website about their equipment, I am thinking of starting a class action lawsuit.

Lets face it. Corporate greed strikes again. Its all about the bottom line. they shipped a faulty product in hopes of making it up in corporate profits. BS. Anyone with me. I have access to free lawyers through my job. If you corporate guys are reading this you need to be second guessing yourselves a little. Dont come up with the Bs either. I used to be in corporate management so I know how it goes.

Xmas is here, Lets just ship it and hope for the best. My A!@, watch out Rock Band your day is coming soon.

No my friend it's deeper than Harmonix. Do your homework, hate the right people, and pick your fights wisely. I'd start with EA and dig on.

Even still I doubt you'd have a case but you'd have a shot.

At first I didn't like the RB guitar because expert and even hard seemed too hard for me after Guitar Hero. I tried using the GH guitar and I sucked just as much. The RB guitar take a little bit to get used to be I'm starting to like it more then the GH one. Hopefully it won't break like all the other ones.

Exactly. Didn't any of you class action lawsuit people learn anything in your high school or college criminal justice classes? You always try to go after the company with the "deeper pockets", in this case, that would be EA.

Oh wow, i ****ing laughed hard at this. "Corperate Greed" would not sell an insane amount of new peripherals for the price of $160. You've clearly watched too many conspiracy movies. Oh no, please don't tell me you're one of those people who think we're all getting away with murder because we got a guitar, mic, and drum set for $170. I've got a secret for you. Hey now,

It's kind of funny; I just custom painted both of our GH2 Gibsons right before we got RB, but I am more than willing to set down my Rising Sun Gibson to play the new strat. Unfortunately, the strum bar is not getting the job done.

Oh yeah, and there ARE at least 2 builds out there. One has metal contacts for the strum (as posted in several fix it posts), but mine has plastic switches, instead. Not adjustable.

On another note, just because it's not said enough, we are having a blast with the game. Just trying to pace ourselves so we don't get burnt out. If only we had a bass player...

So... thanks, Harmonix! It's a great game, just please send me a replacement strat that I can play for hours. I really love the buttons on the neck (both sets), and the strum is great, if it's not acting up! :D

Cowbell, your an idiot!!!

First of all its not about Going after them like a hot cup of coffe on my lap. I am not looking for millions. What I do expect is, if I pay good money for something I expect it to work properly.

If you have read these forums, you will have noticed that its not just me experiencing a problem. Its numerous. What does that mean in the real world? Someone needs to step up to the plate or numerous people need to step up to the plate and make them fix what they screwed up!!!

Obviously many people are unhappy!! Just because you can play easy mode with the guitar and not have a problem does not mean their is something wrong.

Second, conspiracy movies? You gotta do better. This isnt an episode of Law and Order!!!

So, if you want to lay down and accept a subpar piece of equipment for $170.00 and lack of interchangeable accesories. You go ahead. Yes I said subpar. We cant use our GH3 controllers or anything from PS2 with this top of the line piece of equipment.

.

Them releasing a patch to fix some people's guitars is not stepping up?

And them replacing your guitar free of charge for the first 2 months in a matter of days is not stepping up?

I don't think we need to go all Erin Brockovich on these forums.

Same thing is going on for Guitar Hero. Old GH guitars won't work with the PS3. Sounds like a PS3 problem, not a HMX problem.

Thanks for the tips guys. I found out my guitar actually does random double hits on down-strokes. So every 2-4 down strokes it will actually double hit. No wonder strange things were happening even if I was hitting single notes correctly. Guess I will send it back or what ever they will do.

Does anybody's guitar sound like it has something shaking inside of it? Like a small metal ball rolling around in it? I opened mine up, tightened all the necessary parts, but there's NOTHING loose or evident that is making the noise. There seems to be a hole that was covered up with some melted plastic by the manufacturer, but I have no clue if there's something stuck in there or whatever.

The sound's driving me insane cuz it sounds like a small ball in one of those small toy pinball machines you can carry around.
