Hi this is my 1st forum post ever so im sorry if Im not doing something right or something. But anyways, heres my concern. I saw screenshots of the game and everything fits well onto the screen, but the notes that scroll down the screen are kind of small. How guitar hero has circles that stand out, rock band only has small lines. I think that would be ok with maybe easy or medium difficulty, but wouldnt it be hard to see on the more difficult settings? With the notes only being small lines of glowi-ness, and so many notes going so fast on hard and expert, wouldnt it be easier to have something that stands out more, like a square shaped note? Or a octagon, so it would LOOK like a circle but be different enough. Also, I like black metal and death metal like vader and dimmu borgir. I now these bands and styles arent to popular, but It would be sweet to see some foreign bands in the game like that. But my other question is this: how well does the game work with lower voiced people like myself? I want to do some singing, but rock music in general tends to favor higher pitched individuals. I have never played karaoke games before, so I have no idea. Thats a reason why I would like some heavy metal songs with lower voiced singers, so I dont feel like as much of an idiot. Ok, thats it.

right on about the metal bro. Yeah i had been wondering the same thing, and the line for the bass drum could be kind of difficult to see, but if you think about it the bass drum line goes all the way across so no matter what note ur playing u can see it, but ig they made lines for everything else just so it would be different from GH.

I have a lower voice too and I was wondering about the singing myself. You can probably sing in whatever octave you choose and it will still register in the game.
As for the lines, in the youtube video it looked like they were using the same old circles as guitar hero, and the only thing that was different was the place that the circles reach at the bottom.

i recall getting the impression from one article that the square glowy notes were only during certain sections.. don't quote me though, because I could be completely off.

I think that the rectangular notes are the new look for the game, and will be used throughout the entire song.

Having made 2 awesome guitar games already, I'm pretty sure they'll get the notes done correctly. As for your voice, I remember reading that the game could adjust to correctly tell if a female was singing a song correctly, even if the song was originally performed by a male. So I have a feeling it just detects the note, not what octave you are in. So hopefully you won't have a problem.
This is a HUGE game for EA and Harmonix, they don't want to screw it up, so I'm guessing (and hoping) they will have all of the basic gameplay down. As far as what songs they pick, now THAT is totally up in the air. I like pretty much everything, so as long as the songs don't stick to one genre too much and overall good songs, I'll be happy.
