View Full Version : The spoken word parts??

What are they judging you on in the spoken word parts? Like in Sabotage, Epic and Ballroom Blitz. I am playing it on medium right now and have been doing the singing in World Band mode with a group of friends for over 18 hours since it came out and I cannot figure out what it wants in these parts. Obviously you speak the words but I will get all "Awesomes" in the singing parts and then the speaking (or rapping) parts say it is messy or good. I am saying what it wants me to. Is it judging the way I say the words? Maybe I don't enunciate right.
Hopefully someone has figured this out because I want to go up in the difficulty for the singing but if I cant figure this out I will never make it to expert.
Any tricks you have figured out so far will be appreciated :)
Thanks

I have one of the boston accents. You know, the whole chowdah and Red Sawx. And I still have gotten nothing but "Awesome" on the spoken word parts. They are judging you on saying the word. It picks up vowels and consonants.

Thank you for the fast responses. I guess I can sing but I just can't rap hehe. I will keep messing with it. I will try to say the words instead of doing it like the singer....not as fun but maybe a better score.
Thanks again.
....so why would the way I say a line of words matter as a singer. I mean in Epic he is almost growling the words out (I love that song by the way) but a singer on stage doesn't need to say the word perfectly for the crowd to go wild....we aren't talking about singing on pitch here. I am not sure this was a good thing for the game. I want to sing not worry about how I say "what is it"...

Mainly timing. Obviously getting the word right too.

1) He's not on any particular pitch, so the standard method doesn't really work.
2) You don't need to enunciate perfectly, but you also can't just mumble. Even Ozzy is understandable on stage.

It's really irritating when I see a speaking part coming up (we'll use Oh Yeah as an example), I say it, and then I get messy or okay. Did I really just not say "Oh yeah" well enough for this game? But I digress...

Friends and I were playing yesterday, and my Wife sang to "Timmay", and seriously...how clearly can you say Timmay? She kept getting messy or good also, but there's no way you can say "Timmay" any clearer, or mumble like he does for the other parts......we were also a bit clueless on how the word parts are graded. I HIGHLY double they are based on "words". If anyone here has played any other Karaoke game, then you know that it's all about the pitch and timing. Try playing Brain Age 1, and when it asks you to say "Blue"...good luck....barely anyone can do that right, and the creators even APOLOGIZED for that one, and didn't do that the second time around. speech recognition is definately not good enough yet where they could do it that way. Heck, I yell at my cell phone constantly just to understand what name I'm trying to say

9 times out of 10 it's your rhythm that's killing you on those parts. Most people have bad singing rhythm because they sing with the singer instead of the song.

have you messed with the mic sensitivity? Maybe your voice is overfeeding the mic or something. try holding it a couple inches from your mouth and not right on it.
