There just has to be more heavy metal avalible!
Some Mudvayne or Slipknot would be awesome!
It wouldn't be bad if there was some Mettalica from their newest album as well.
Tell me what metal songs, albums, or song packs you think there should be avaliable for download. :)

i second this. nu metal is boring and metallica already has enough dlc. we gotta get more metal bands that have no dlc. im very happy about children of bodom. do u know who they are?

I agree about Heavy Metal, but Slipknot and Mudvayne is not heavy metal, it's nu metal.

My own personal preferences among metal (for the game, at least) include Iced Earth, Symphony X, more Iron Maiden, more Judas Priest - things like that. A few suggestions, as examples:
Iced Earth - Birth of the Wicked
Iced Earth - Pure Evil
Iced Earth - Motivation of Man/Setian Massacre
Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys
Symphony X - Eve of Seduction
Kamelot - The Fourth Legacy
Judas Priest - Tyrant (Unleashed in the East version)
Jag Panzer - The Mission (1943)
These are the sort of songs I'd add in if I had the ability to add music to the game myself.

Obviously, someone with excellent taste in metal has hacked into my iPod and posted 8 of my favourite tracks.

Ah, the problem with heavy metal right here...no one knows what it is!!! I'll take metallica (death magnetic is fun on GH:WT), but save those other two. I mean mudvayne has some ok songs like dig, but slipknot I wouldn't touch. I'll take some more Between the Buried and Me due to their awesomeness on guitar, and I won't go further into any requests.
I don't know if we'll get metal in the next month though considering we have no doubt, janes addiction, and SRV coming, but it's ok cause SRV is incredible.

Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple are about the only "Heavy Metal" bands I can stomach (yes, they are Metal, early metal...but I digress). However, odds are the first two won't be seen since the first has liscensing issues and the second has an association with "The Game that shall not be named".
For me...anything pre-1980.
Oh...and Judas Priest, but we already have that. We have Iron Maiden too...but I didn't download them. They're closer to Thrash Metal...not a fan!
I think we have plenty of metal in this game spanning several sub-genres. Considering how many genres there are, I think it would be better to release more of something else...but that's just me. :)

My problem is the particular Judas Priest that is available - the Screaming for Vengeance album, which I really don't care for. I'll listen to Electric Eye and the Iced Earth cover of Screaming for Vengeance, but nothing else. I'd want to see songs from before British Steel, which I find is my favorite period of their music.

Led Zeppelin aren't Metal.
Strictly speaking, probably not, but they are a band that had a serious influence on early metal. Either way, that's just splitting hairs.

Led Zeppelin aren't Metal.
Many, many Rock historians and websites would disagree with you. Many consider them and Sabbath the founders, at least in part, and nothing personal, but I would tend to side with them.

Zeppelin were an influence on Metal, but they weren't Metal. They were Hard Rock. Many people consider GN'R and Van Halen Metal, too, but they're both Hard Rock. Same with AC/DC.

Led Zeppelin were very influential in the creation of the genre, but Black Sabbath were the first band that fit the bill. I mean, listen to Going to California, The Rain Song, The Battle of Evermore and Ramble On and tell me those guys are a metal band.

Led Zeppelin ISN'T metal, dammit! XD Black Sabbath IS the fisrt metal band, get your subject/verb agreement straight!
Led Zeppelin = Multiple people to form SINGULAR group.
But yeah, Led Zeppelin is hard rock that had an influence on early metal. That's about it.
As for the OP's aforementioned bands, anything off of LD50 by Mudvayne wouldn't be bad, but other than that no thanks.

i agree.
We already have all the good metallica songs and Nu-Metal is too redundant, imo.

Though I would love that...it's not very feasible (I know you're joking...at least mildly, but I'll not shut up anyway :)).
There are a LOT of Metal fans here. I won't download it, but HMX would be pretty stupid not to offer more since it has sold quite well in the past.

I want some Mercyful Fate or King Diamond, Opeth, and Symphony X. I would have to admit that I would never play anything else if we got these bands in Rock Band.

Quotes like this make me sad for the current state of metal. If we could get any metal, let's get some ACTUAL metal like:
Judas Priest (British Steel please)
Anthrax
Mercyful Fate
Death
Morbid Angel
Iced Earth
Just to name a few. :)

"Actual" = Bands I like!
Though obviously not your favorites, It's pretty safe to say that Slipknot and Mudvayne are [place-sub-genre-prefix-of-your-choice-here]-metal. You not liking those particular bands hardly disqualifies them.
I will admit I'm not a fan of Slipknot (or Mudvayne) and the masks/costumes are a bit too "gimmicky" for my tastes, but whatever...others would argue they fit into the genre.

The thing is, I do like Slipknot and Mudvayne! :p Yea, the gimmick is kinda getting old, but I just don't think of them as "metal". You're right, it really is a matter of opinion. I just think if someone wants metal in RB, that we should get some from current bands AS WELL as from the older metal bands (Sabbath songs that aren't covers would be nice too :) ).

(Sabbath songs that aren't covers would be nice too :) ).
Total agreement. I love early metal...I got turned off in the mid 80's to early 90s when it seemed metal was turning into a "How can I top the last guy" or "Let's see how much I can scare parents" genre.
I have since left it behind. It's just not musical to me anymore. Maybe I'm getting old. :(

I know how you feel (minus the fact that I think metal peaked in the 80's and that's my favorite time period for music :p) Shock rock used to appeal to me when I was a teenager, and I still appreciate the technicality that some of the death metal bands bring to the table, but I love the rock from the 70's that is both fun to play and enjoyable to listen to (when we got most of Boston's debut album, I went nuts :) ).
