View Full Version : What are the Calibration Default values?

Okay, so I want to calibrate my system more accurately than it currently is. I'm really having difficulty.
I am *not* blaming the fantastic array of tools that Harmonix has given us. I am simply admitting that between my wife and myself we are finding it hard to look at the little blinking light and decide whether it is in synch with the sound if it is in position a, or position b, or position c, etc. Let alone strumming on the strum bar and getting 3 different values, all of which feel good when we do it originally.
So I wanted to know what the defaults were for each of their pre-sets, so I could know where to start off with.
As an example, we have a new 52" Vizio GV52L LCD tv, which we are loving. We were originally using the default LCD TV setting, but have been trying to create a custom calibration setting.
So what are the settings for the default LCD tv, and others, so that we know of a good jumping off point from which to start our calibration journey.
'cause I have to say, I'm tired of looking at the clicking, beeping light and not knowing if I am making things better or worse!

Not a direct answer to your question but to configure try going strait to manually set and listening to the audio and trying to determine if it's hitting before or after the white thing in the middle. This will probably be fine on the initial setting. Once it's set, go to calibrate, use the utility, and get a number. Then go to manually set, take the number you had, and try adding 50. Try it now.

While I thank you for the response, I had tried to indicate in my initial post that I am actually having quite a bit of difficulty deciding just whether or not the sound and video are in synch or not. My wife and I are in complete disagreement as to whether or not to move the slider left or right to make it synch up (which shows that one of us is wrong, one of us is right, and we're both frustrated).
Thus, your suggestion, while appreciated, is a little fruitless. While I would indeed love to "try to determine" as you suggested, we've been trying that off and on for a few days now, and we've all but given up hope. Adding 50 afterwards is something we haven't tried ... but next time I'm feeling masochistic enough to try to manually calibrate, I'll give this a shot.
We're down to just randomly moving the slider, and sacrificing to random Gods.
It is a fine toolset they've given us, but it relies on human calibration.
Which is about as iffy as you can get.
Which is why I was hoping to get the preset values to start as a jumping-off point.

There's really no way to answer this for certain. It depends on the TV you have, whether you have the game running through a receiver or not, your sound system, and even your own personal preference. Actually, human calibration isn't all that bad, because if you calibrate it, then according to how you play, it will all be synced correctly.
I'm sure you've already tried, but in case you haven't, don't try random things anymore and just pick one of your answers as right and calibrate it from there, trying a song after you're done. If you don't have to hit early or late, then it's calibrated fine.

Actually, there *is* a way to answer my original question for certain.
All I'm asking is what values they are using for the calibration pre-sets.
example: When you choose "LCD TV" from the list of pre-sets, what is their preset calibration for a "standard" LCD TV?
That's all I'm looking for. A good jumping-off point.

I'll see if I can find out...
