The one annoyance of a game with so much hardware is managing all of the wiring that goes along with it. I have played with several configurations since launch before settling on this one, which is quite satisfying.
In my prototype run, I tried attaching the USB hub to the drum base, which was effective but a little cluttered, especially if you needed to move the drum set. A couple tries later I settled on this setup:

An 8 ft USB extender cable connects the Xbox to the USB hub, and snakes along the rear wall of the room. The hub sits on the floor behind an end table. With the lengthy wiring on all of the hardware, it is possible to go from the USB hub and behind the furniture. Since rockers will be sitting or standing near the couch, it was an ideal setup.
Thought I'd throw this out there to give you guys some ideas. Hooking up an average setup from a console can be messy, even with a wireless guitar in the mix.

Did you just color in the guitar, or was it not there and you painted it in? Or is it actually covering up a really big stain? ;)

The guitar wasn't visible in the picture, so I drew it in to give people an idea how it would work in practice. :)
Also, I forgot to mention. You can get a standard adjustible AC adapter for under 10$ at any retail store and it will have much more cord to work with. Very useful when arranging where to locate your hub. The bundled power source with the hub is quite short.

I have mine all hooked up down in my home theater and have also tried several setups since unpacking it. I am going to move my usb hub to a more central location and then branch out from there. I think the key to your setup is the one cable behind the couch. I think it's best to have the instruments coming from the hub in different directions than to have all four running together back towards the xbox.
If you had a bit longer usb extension, you could put the hub under the couch with a guitar coming out each side and the drums from the middle. Mic could be stored under there as well.
