Make sure you are the band leader, and then in the manage band option (on the screen that allows you to choose between playing the gig, rock shop, and what have you) you should be able to edit almost anything there, and there is where you can add, subtract band members

I was wondering if you can change the band leader...I ran into this 'issue' last night...my guitar crapped out and I had formed a band with the guitarist as the leader. Anyhow, I wanted to sing and my buddy play drums, but it wouldn't let me change the leader from guitar to vocals and we ended up having to form a new band. This was pretty frustrating and I don't want to have 4 bands depending on what type of instrument I feel like playing that day.

No, there is no way to change the band leader. At most you would need 2 bands, though (since guitar and bass are the "same") and the 3rd character "class" could just play with one of the other two bands. Hope that helps.

Sure enough, I guess I should start thinking before I speak...although I still find it annoying that I need to have 2 bands as that means I have 2 different fan levels/no. of stars/unlocked gigs to deal with depending on what I feel like playing that day. I'm sure eventually I'd form different bands but there's already quite a bit of repetition for a single band, let alone playing 2 simultaneous careers at about the same level.
