Guitar Broken? help!

I bought the ps3 version of rock band yesterday and almost instantly the guitar started acting up and double struming. It is very frustrating when i try to get 100% on a song and it messes me up. I just wanted to know if this is a guitar malfunction that i should send in to harmonix or whoever and get it fixed.

Are we ever going to be able to use our ps3 guitar hero 3 guitars with rock band?:confused:
