Guitar Hero III Controller: Will it work?

I have a PS3. Say I have a Rock Band guitar and a Guitar Hero III guitar. Now say that on Rock Band, I want to play guitar and my bro wants to play bass (although he probably doesn't; nobody wants to play bass). Would he be able to use my GH III guitar as a bass? I might not work, as they are being handled by different developers this time around. Does anybody know?

They say they intend on making the X-Plorer guitar work with it.. and any third party controllers.. so I'm sure if they do allow those to work, then the GHIII one would, too.

Well in the FAQ (http://www.rockband.com/index.php?do=/public/content/file_faq/dir_language/) it says that it will work with all 3rd party guitars, I would assume this means any guitars that work with GH, GHII, or GH III. Of course if you use those you will probably lose out on the 10 buttons that you get from the Fender Strat though.

Specifically it says:

Q: Will my Xbox 360 GH controller work with Rock Band?

A: We intend on supporting the X-Plorer guitar controller, yes. We also intend on supporting any third party controllers that come out. We know that the fans want a choice of controllers to play our game and we have no desire to get in the way of that. That said - our Fender Strat controller is going to have some added features that bring some extra awesomosity to the table and the X-Plorer controller may not have the capabilities to utilize all these features, but you should be able to play the game unhindered.

I'm still getting the Strat, i just wanted to know if I could use my GHIII Les Paul for bass purposes.

I read somewhere (forget where) that you can use the GHIII Les Paul for Rock Band as well.

Yes, I read that too in the same place I read about the GHIII controller working in RB.

I was wondering / hoping :) the same thing, I think it was an IGN article which mentioned it should work.
So thats a nono to the Les Paul and a yesyes to the Strat for me:)
Though Im probably so stupid to buy the Gh3's Les Paul packagse anyway :S

Totally , But i would Prefer Rocking With The Strat , man i cant wait to use those solo buttons :D
p.s. i Too have a Ps3 So maybe i will see you on RockBand

thatd would be awesome, i am more of a Gibson person than a fender, but the RB controller looks amazing with all the features and how realistic it looks

Harmonix said that if they wanted too, Activison could make the ghIII guitar work for rock band. It's really up to Activision though.
