I was lucky/unlucky enough to have the strum bar go poo poo, the bass pedal (nearly) snap and the green pad not work out of the box.
Since i live in the UK, I cannot get any replacement instruments!
This is even though I paid double what the customers in the U.S paid for the game and instruments.
This is because EA are nothing more than money-grabbing monkeys who care not for thier huge customer base.
By the by, you have to fix the instruments yourself or throw it all in the bin. Or keep it as a very expensive ($400) kareoke game.
The Fixes:
Drums:
If you have a broken Bass pedal there are 2 things you can do:
- You could try to reinforce the pedal by screwing a plate over like I've done here:

-Or, if the bass pedal has snapped at the swivel/hinge like this:

You will have to buy a small hinge from B&Q (The UK's Home Depot) and screw half of the hinge to the base plate, and half the hinge to the pedal plate. This will look a little strange but will be 30 times stronger than the plastic swivel hinge on there now.
I trust I will be modifiing the hinge next as its the next weakest point on the bass pedal.
Drum Pads:
If your drum pads fail to work or stop working, don't panic.
Simply 'pop' the pad away from its holder (carefully) and reconnect the little jumper cable within. All thats happening is its vibrating loose, or was loose to start with. This fixed my drum pad straight away. It looked connected, but obviously wasnt.
The 'crap' Strat
The big one everyone is facing is the broken strum bar on the strat!
This is actually quite an easy fix, and applies to all the double strumming and non-pickup faults with the guitar. (Not the Directional button fault).
Just follow this link: http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=40188
All you have to do is loosen the screws that hold the switch in place, twist the swtch towards the strum bar and re-tighten the swtch in its new position.
I have done this with my broken strat and its been going strong now for the last couple of days playing on hards (and mediums for the noobs in my house!!)
I strongly dis-advise grinding the contacter tip away, as could cause problems in the future, after wear and tear has had its time to take hold.
As for the Microphone, I've been lucky (Yeah right).
Its working fine except for the laggy static-ee sound it makes. But I'm told thats normal.
Anyway, if you need help with any non-warranty fixes, just post here, I'll try to help as much as possible!!
Apart from all the grief, with repairing all the instruments, its a fantastic game!
(Just remember, these repair tips are only for the unlucky people who dont live in the US and are not covered by the warranty replacement service.)
