so when they send you a new guitar, is it the same guitar that came with the game or are they sending you one that will not have a flimsy strum bar? for instance, will the guitar have problems just as the first one i had and then i would have to replace the replacement?

Apparently the new replacement guitars will be the latest models which don't have the problems the older models had. No replacements have been received though because of the holiday weekend UPS was closed. Replacements should be sent out today.

Uhhh, where do you get the idea that both models don't have the same problems?
I have the "newer model", as do a LOT of other people in some of the threads relating to strum problems, and we all have the same sorts of broken strum bar problems.

I am guessing that the guitars they send us in return will be the same type as we're sending back, and they will break soon. What remains to be seen is whether they will honor another 60 day warranty on the replacement guitar. If not, a whole lot of people are going to be SOL and angry from this fiasco.

They haven't had enough time between launch and today to change the designs and choose some different crappy cheap-@ss factory in China to build our expensive controllers, so don't get your hopes up.

For those of you who bought at Best Buy, and got the extended 2 year warranty plan, that will probably be the only saving grace out there. Hold onto your craptastic broken strat and wait the 6+ months until they make the redesigned guitars (and to be certain that Best Buy has sold all their older versions and only have the new stuff in stock) then go take your old box back and get brand new equipment.

Sorry to say it but a 60 day warranty is going to leave a LOT of people screwed. Thanks EA. I hope the corporate d1psh*t who chose to save a couple bucks to farm out the manufacture of these half-baked guitars to crappy Chinese factories gets demoted over this stunt.

So if you get a new guitar, will they ship you one, THEN you send back your broken one? Also, it sucks for people that already have it and have to wait till Christmas, cuz you'll lose 30 days off ur warranty

Yes. They ask for a credit card number to charge if you don't send back the broken one within 28 days. Alternatively, you can ask to have an empty box sent to send back the broken one, and they'll ship the new one when they receive the broken one.

I'm just glad I decided "against my better judgment" to get the 2 year waranty from BB when I made the purchase, because my strum bar is busted already and the mic is droping out periodicly. I don't want to wait and pay for shipping and handling from EA when I can just run to the store and have it replaced that day.
Once the new modles come out I'll just get it replaced again for sure.
I just wonder how many times I'm going to have to run to BB to replace this guitar.

I wonder if it would at all be easier to go to Radio Shack to buy some small switches and replace the metal strips that are used for the strum connections.

A lot of the replacement guitars have a different strum setup as shown in other topics.

I asked the question about the new one breaking, will they replace it again. He basically did not answer me, but said "if" I have trouble with the replacement to call them. He would not confirm that it would be replaced. I assume that when the "new" one breaks, they will tell me "sorry, it is past the 60 days, tough luck buddy"

Typically, replacement items for any product have a standard 30-day replacement warranty due to the "lemon law". So if your guitar kept breaking within 30 days (legitimate breakage, not stomping on it to get a new one), it would be under warranty each time. I had this happen with a guitar amplifier once and it was replaced with a new amp 4 seperate times over a three month span before I got one that worked properly. Each time I got my replacement it was the beginning of a new 30 day warranty, because it was a new piece of equipment. Will someone post when tey get their replacement to advise what the enclosed paperwork says about the return policy?

30 days? I really hope the new one breaks in that time then. It doesn't seem right that the brand new out of the box has 60 days and that the replacement will only have 30. I hope this isn't true. Mine is sitting here never really been played the strum bar and tilt were both broken right out of the box.:(

Why wait? I figure if the replacement craps out I'll just get another one...

Btw, if I bought the bundle at launch which has a 60 day warranty and then get a replacement do I still have the remaining 53 or so days or is it now chopped to 30?

I do find it amusing that between the Les Paul's occasionally deciding not to recognize the orange fret, and the broken strum bar on the Strat, that the oft-maligned Xplorer is the best guitar to play Rock Band with.

I actually went out of my way to buy a copy of GHII just to get an extra guitar. Ironic part, is I've had no issues with the Strat (still keeping my fingers crossed).

Hopefully they will abide by the lemon law policy. When I talked to the lady about my replacement drums she said if my replacement drums have trouble responding 100% as well, then I still have within the 60 of my purchase to replace them again. I'm going to give Harmonix a chance to respond to this and make some kind of announcement since this is the first day back after the holiday. With as many problems as I've heard about, I really think they should make their 60 policy start on Dec 25 for everyone. Many people are going to get their game on Christmas, but their receipt will say something from Nov 20-25 or so. The kids who don't know about these issues and don't get on this forum, or any other game forums, will be in trouble. For instance, on the drums, by the time they get to hard and expert level it could be until February before they realize their drums don't respond 100% of the time. Then it's too late.

Lucky for me, my guitar has played perfect since day 1. I've played through hard and some expert on the solo game. Played many songs in BWT in 2 different bands. So far so good. I like the strat way more than the x-plorer and les paul. I've been playing guitar for 12 years and the neck feels so much more comfortable to me. I like the fact that the neck is a little longer and the the body is slimmer. Much better placement of the start and back buttons as well. In my opinion, I rate it a 9/10.

because it is a PITA to keep sending stuff back when I can just use the explorer and LP for awhile. I really don't want to get back a bad guitar.

I wonder how many people will use this as a method to get a second guitar to use with Rock Band? Looks like the only option for PS3 users at the moment... :D

Considering I've been playing nothing but drums my guitar hasn't had more than 5 minutes use. I'll be unhappy if I start using it later only to find out it's a POS.

The drums have been mostly good for me - I get a few annoying misses from time to time but for the most part they work as expected.

Here is a suggestion go back to the store where you got it and exchange I've twice already I'm currently on my third Rock Band box hoping this one will last. Note also that I sdid not pay extra for a 2yr plan which is a waste of money.

i love the strat.

After my guitar AND kick drum broke on the same day I was so frusterated I put Rock Band away for awhile.

But after realizing that EA and HMX are making the best out of a bad situation, and customer support has been outstanding, I plugged in my XPlorer and rocked again.

It took me about an hour to re-learn where those TINY buttons are on that TINY neck of a guitar. The Strat was amazing, because it FEELS like a guitar. The X-Plorer feels so much like a toy now that I just cant wait to get my replacement.

WHAT IF...they accidentally put demo models into the retail boxes? Hmmmm....

There ARE like two or three different versions of each piece of equipment. Seems like they'd have to sort that out before they could ship anything.

If they did, it was probably no accident. Just a cheap way to get more bundles out and into people's hands to pacify them and get their money. Also a good way to use a bunch of pre-production models just sitting around to their advantage.

My mic doesn't work at all (out of the box) and my guitar broke after 5 or 6 hour of total play. I ordered a new mic and a new guitar early last Wednesday and selected 2nd day..........neither one of them has shipped. I've seen alot people say the RB more like a real guitar and I agree but why are the drums like something straight out of the toddler section at Wal-Mart.

Why shouldn't HMX be "bashed" for this, they are they face company of this game right? A friend and I have owned our own business for 8 years and we outsource a lot of work to a photo lab. If that lab f's up the product we take the heat because we're the name

I'm not a hardcore gammer and don't follow all the companies so I want to know something. What makes HMX such a "about the people" company? A few posts on a forum? Free stickers?

Where do I buy the HMX cool aid?

When someone receives their replacement guitar--especially if you have a chance to open it up and take some pictures--please start a new thread. We won't want big news like that to be buried.

Thanks.
