Online battles

How does the online battles work? The only way I can get into one is to pick quick play. I'm assuming that when I do that, I'm linking up with someone who has already picked the song they want to perform and I'm just going with that. Is this true or is the song picked at random? If not, how do I get to be the "host" and pick the song we play?

as far as i can tell quickplay is the only option, being "leader" is random though and is decided when you join someone. Unfortunately whoever is leader will be able to pick the songs every time until one of you leave and end the match

on player match the leader decides and on rank match the computer decides:D
