Why is it that everyone on here thinks that everything is a matter of leagality? You buy something if it doesn't work you get it replaced under the companies warrenty that is it. There is no way you have of going after the company over legal issues. It amazes me that anyone thinks you can. If you feel you got screwed there is something you can do. Stop buying items from the companies that you feel screwed you.

At least some people realize that when you buy something you are taking a risk. The company should do the right thing but they don't always otherwise we wouldn't have so many diet pills on infomercials late night TV.

My thing with lawsuits is...someone gets punched in the face for being a c*ckbite, then they go run and hide behind their lawyers to sue the crap out of the person who "assaulted" them. I think that is the funniest, besides those people who are so addicted to heroine and other drugs that they need to rely on insurance fraud for more drug money.

We live in a nation full of dipsh*ts, but its not just America...

No its not that is true. But ever since a women sued over hot coffee the legal system has gone down hill over why you can be awarded money.

You're totally right. I deal with it every day. Its the generational trend, unfortunately.

You'd be surprised how many cases NEVER make it to a courtroom and are either settled privately or are simply ignored based on the fact that there's no cause of action. The amount of lawsuits tendered in our fair land is staggering.

Capitalism is a wonderful thing...if you buy something, and its crap, then you have the option of NOT buying it and moving on to something else....be it a different peripheral, or an entirely different game. I have a colleague who used to play GH2, and he was so fed up with the fact that he couldn't play on medium that he went out and bought a real guitar, and started taking lessons. Now, that's progress :)

But seriously, the whole 'im gonna sue you!' attitude over the past 20-30 years has really dampened that entrepreneurial spirit that previous generations were known for...

I beleive the major problem is we need to start holding lawyers responsible by charging them with frivolous lawsuits (however that is spelled.) So maybe they will think harder before they go out and take a case of a woman/man who opened an LCD TV box and when he installed it improperlly and it fall to the fall samsung doesn't owe him anything.

Fixed that for you.

I'm an American, and I enjoy "class action lawsuit" threads about video games because they make me laugh.

by far the dumbest lawsuits are the people who sue mcdonalds bcause their fat. Like give me a ****ing break...

If i was the judge i would just laugh at them, and order then to perform 100 hours of running on a treadmill.

I love all of these threads about class action lawsuits, especially because of the compatibility issues of Rock Band. These people genuinely believe they have a case based on the fact that HMX have created a game which doesn't work with a new controller made by a different and unrelated company on a system which has never had guitar controllers up to this point.

It's totally ridiculous and at the same time, completely hilarious.

well you got your choices

you can live in a capitalist/democratic society where everyone can hide behind lawyers and threaten to sue everyone

or you can live in a communist society where you work for the greater good of the state and have no choices except what the state gives you

or you can live in a dictatorship where you are told what to think, what to read, what to watch, what to do, have all of your tv, radio, internet censored, and you have NO lawyers to hide behind.

Double-edged sword...sorta like the ACLU in this country. They fight for the rights of common people so we don't get screwed/discriminated/etc, but at the same time, they fight for the dumbest nonsense like the ONE girl who wasn't allowed to participate in track & field events because she was the only one in a wheelchair while every other athlete has legs and can run.

You got to take the good with the bad. I'd rather live in a society where everyone thinks they can sue someone else because at least we have freedom and choices. Choices and freedom are better than no choices and limited to no freedom.

I beleive the major problem is we need to start holding lawyers responsible by charging them with frivolous lawsuits (however that is spelled.)

In actuality, lawyers can be sanctioned for bringing frivolous lawsuits. But that only works if the judge agrees that the case has no legal or factual basis. And it doesn't prevent people from bringing the lawsuit in the first place.

And the ridicuolus awards that you read about are most often jury awards. And who is it that are on those juries? People. And while not everyone fits the "too dumb to get out of jury duty" stereotype, most people on juries are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. And the rare intelligent person is often outvoted by the stupid ones, so you get ridicuolus awards - like the McDonald's coffee case or O.J. being acquitted.

But yeah - too many people immediately think lawsuit. I bought a business and I ran it into the toilet and lost all my money, so I'll sue the seller for fraud and breach of contract and whatever else my lawyer can think up. I took out a bigger mortgage than I could afford and now the bank is threatening (rightfully) to foreclose, so I'll sue the bank for fraudulent lending practices.

If more people would just take a long, honest look in the mirror when bad things happen, there would be a lot fewer stupid lawsuits.
