Recording Video

I consider myself to be semi-tech savvy, but I honestly don't know how to do this. I've seen a lot of videos of gameplay footage that seems to be directly fed from the system. Can anybody give me advice as to how to feed what I see on my TV to my computer to record? Thanks.

P.S. I tried that Zune thing to no avail...I think my firewall was preventing connection...but I don't know.
