I had some people over to play Rock Band a couple days ago. One of them was an actual drummer and he kept complaining about the game being off beat. Later on we took it to someone else's house and he had no complaints, said it was perfectly on beat.
Now I've tried all the calibration things and I can't get anything to work. It still seems offbeat. Suggestions?

If you have dolby on, that can make it near impossible to calibrate.

Yea, game with Dolby Digital 5.1 is nearly unplayable. Turn it off and or run analog sound and you will have a much better time with it. Fills are still a bit delayed but they are manageable without DD5.1.

Game is working fine for me 360 version with 5.1 running, always on beat, never an issue...

As a drummer myself, I found that (as far as the kickdrum is concerned) RB doesn't really take it's true functionality into consideration. The point of a kickdrum is to keep the beat of the song and keep the guitar players on beat. However, RB likes to try and screw you up and "challenge" you, throwing weird, impractical beats at you to overcome.

I had my brother over. He has been playing drums for 30 years. At first, he was really crazed because he couldn't get the beat. Finally, I turned off Dolby Digital and I made the lag +30 ms. (I have a PS3 running through an Outlaw processor and a Mistu projector). Once I did that, it worked great. Also, he started off on EASY. When he moved to HARD, it was even better. He finally was not frustrated and was planning at 90% accuracy.
