Guitar Hero III Guitar not working w/ rockband

I have guitar Hero III and Rockband, both for PS3. On Guitar Hero III the guitar works perfectly, but when I am trying to us it on Rockband as a second guitar (Bass) it reads it as a mic.

I've run all of the software updates, and I was wondering if there are any other things that I can try. I was told that the guitars would be compatible before purchasing both games. If this was wrong I'd like to know as well.

I was about to ask the same question.

For PS3, my GH3 guitar does not work with RB, and my RB guitar does not work with GH3.

I would love for these to be compatible since this stuff is expensive!!!!!!

I'm really glad I did a search before posting this same question (no offense) because I hooked up my GH3 guitar, and when it didn't work I tried every trick I could think of (like unhooking all other peripherals) and was about the smash the damn guitar until I finally looked it up to see that it was incompatible.

My main problem isn't with the incompatibility, it's with the design and funciton of the RB guitar. I'm so used to the GH guitars, so this one feels like it sticks a lot. I've avoided the guitar completely on RB because of this... though I know with a little practice I will get used to it.

i heard it just doesn't work with ps3 because my guitar works fine and i am using a guitar hero3 controller with rockband it only works on xbox360

does any one get a message no mic detected? i get that at the second screen whereu can choose solo,multi,traning,options, and comunity. the only one i can go into without geting that is comunity i cant even play the game,

and no one sells the guitar seperate so im stuck with a game and no controller unless i buy another game with guitar.not even the sixaxis controler works they all give me the same message

The GHIII controller only works with Rock Band on the Xbox 360. Sorry dude, must suck.
to use the mic
1. plug in mic
2. plug in/turn on regular controller
3. use controller for menus, press a at the join screen on the regular controller to sing.
