Am I the only one who loves watching other people do fills? It's just awesome to see how quickly they can handle 'em and how creative they can get with it

Personally, I suck at fills. Always a badass feeling when you can make 'em sound good, though.

Most of the people doing the expert videos play real drums, that's why it's really easy for them to be creative and do it so well. Awesome video btw man.

how does tape make your drums more responsive on fills?

SoKGiX
11-25-2007, 10:05 AM
squeezes the pad together more so that its a lil more responsive i think, doesn't require as much travel to register..

btw, OP, do u play drums?

I don't think that would go as an FC though. You broke up the combo at some point in time (with 1:13 or 1:12 left in the video) But regardless of that, thats still incredibly impressive.

digitaldrummer
11-25-2007, 10:06 AM
the tape holds the pad closer to the sensor inside of it, which allows for more sensitive hits

yes i play drums i have been for 5 years

True, take it when you can get it. People who are hardcore at these games won't have it count because the combo broke, but who cares? I'm about to move up to hard and I'd love to be that good at any point in my life at this game.

its not technically an fc because fc means full combo (or somethin like that) and by missing a not u didnt have a combo the whole song...still most would count it because u didnt miss any notes just pobably pushed the bass an extra time

He never even said he FC'd it, the thread title says 100% and thats what he got. Nice work *thumbs up*

Hey man...great work! Are you a 'real' drummer? (don't bother answering that...I just read the 2nd page...I'm lame) I'm a real player in real life(not 100% solid but I'm pretty confident) and I was thoroughly impressed with your kick drum effectiveness. I did see 'a little' of unsteadiness in your double stops(hitting two drums simultaneously) but that was very very minor. Looking forward to your Tom Sawyer onslaught.

"Maps" is a bioch in the mid-section and I am only 96% on hard...perhaps I was never meant to be a video game drummer...

Dude, I feel like such a nub watching that. I just started on Hard today and made it through the first 4 songs the first time (though barely) and failed on the Ok Go song. I'm practicing though and getting a little better everyday.

Again...props dude. Veranice.

dont worry practice makes perfect instead of playing the songs the first time in career play them in practice til you get it good it'll make you more successful in the career especially when u get to the last tier which the songs get tricky

I agree with digitaldrummer totally. I think we need to encourage drummers and non-drummers on this forum as much as possible and to let everyone know that it takes "PRACTICE"...I equate it to beating Super Mario Brothers, we didn't save the princess the first time around did we?

I think where you can really see the difference between experienced drummers and non-drummers are in the "Overdrive" sections where the players get to freelance. Other things I've noticed from watching noobs playing the drum pads is the lack of using the fingers and wrists. All in all, those are just for efficiency and means nothing regarding hitting all the notes. My opinion is 100% is 100% doesn't matter how you got there.

But that's a bit off tagent, again I'm looking forward to seeing Tom Sawyer. Digital Drummer, have you 'nailed' the midsection of Black Hole Sun at 100%? That's quite the pain...as I'm concentrating on that craziness.

My biggest problem is when the bass falls on an offbeat or those tricky "drum-bass-drum-bass" parts. But when I do hit them...it feels great and I cheer. I gotta stop...I keep waking the kids. :)

Does anyone know if and when Rockband will be available for PS2. I have XBOX360 but it's away being repaired at Microsoft but I don't feel like waiting. I thought I'd buy it for PS2.

Mid December for Ps2 (18th I believe)... but, seriously.. wait for the 360 if you have one. DLC + online makes it way better than PS2.
