Overall the game is great, but having to play through simple weak songs becomes a chore. Now is the time to unleash the Metal Gods into the game! Bands that are a necessity in this game:
Dimmu Borgir*****
Immortal*****
Mayhem***
Amon Amarth*****
Cannibal Corpse*****
Rhapsody of Fire*****
Edguy***
Blind Guardian****
Iced Earth*****
Primal Fear*****
Cradle of Filth***
Sonata Artica****
More Metallica*****
Pantera*****
Into Eternity*****
Death*****
Symphony X*****
Dream Evil****
Just think a game with so many metal songs would be so much better not only for those who live off this stuff, but for those who want a challenge. Lets be honest your not gonna get much of a challenge playing "Rebel girl".

Although I like a good challenge, I have no desire for more metal. I simply don't enjoy the music, unless it's more Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, etc...
Plus, the metal of today is not the metal I grew up on (70s-80s). Now there are so many genres of "metal"...deathcore, grindcore, nu-metal (because spelling "new" is so hard), etc. I grew up with two kinds of metal..."metal" and "heavy metal", and nobody was screaming or "singing" stuff I couldn't understand.
Anyway...I could rant further, but these of course are just my opinions. But the thread is an open forum and I just don't agree that the time for metal is upon us.

One week country, next week metal. I could see this happening. But probably not two days before Christmas.

Half of the bands the OP mentioned aren't "screaming" stuff you can't understand. They're closer to Iron Maiden than anything you're going to get nowadays. Maybe try listening to these bands before you bash. And it's NOO metal, not NEW metal. And the general consensus is that it Nu-Metal is garbage anyway.

I preview all the DLC that comes out, no matter what genre it is. Yes, I don't know the bands mentioned. I was going on the previous DLC, alot of which, to me, seemed to be screaming, growling, and/or flailing away at the drums as fast as possible...which I don't like.
I would certainly be open minded enough to give anything a listen. I just personally don't want any more metal.

Generalize much?

Generalize much?
It would appear so.
But, I am entitled to my opinion.

"Plus, the metal of today is not the metal I grew up on (70s-80s)."
Is a baseless opinion if you haven't even listened to the metal of today.

Aside from the metal of today that has been released (both disk and DLC) with RB, I have listened to others. Most of that comes from listening to metal music channels (there are several) that are available through my cable provider. So, it's not like I haven't tried it, I just don't like alot of it.

YEs the time for more metal is upon us but not those bands please. More metallica would be nice but GH has the rights to metallica.
Cradle of Filth is absolute garbage(my opinion) and I don't think that Harmonix would allow such terrible dirty music.
