View Full Version : Broken Pedal...So, What Are My Options?

I've got a RB1 launch generation EL kit, so needless to say I'm not covered by the warranty anymore. I come on to see if I can get a new bass pedal, but alas, a new policy implemented October 2 needing a receipt to RMA.

I'm not really sure if I want to shell out the "big bucks" for a Destroyer, Omega or Rock pedal, even though I'm an expert level player and after going through 2 pedals already seems like a no-brainer.

I've read I could go to Guitar Center and pick up an electric kit's hi-hat pedal (Alesis DM5) and use that (and I believe that's pretty much a Roadie pedal, which also is the Ion kit's pedal.) But I'm concerned that because it's a designated hi-hat pedal, it can't take the regular punishment like a bass pedal.

Because I'm cheap, I've been also looking at the cheap Blockhead pedal (even though I don't believe they're compatible with RB1 kits) and even thinking a Pedal Metal would be enough to reinforce it enough (because it's a mid break at the spring).

For those owners of such: Are the Destroyer/Omega/Rock pedal, a worthwhile enough investment for the long run? Can a Roadie/Ion pedal cut it? Or is a $20 Pedal Metal a good, (and most importantly for me) inexpensive solution to my horrible problem?

You might wanna consider the Block Head Rhythm Maker. I just picked one up from Best Buy today for the same reason. after multiple repairs my pedal was done. I gotta say @ 30 bucks it's totally worth it. For an extra 5 bucks you can get a warranty for it so if you break it you can just bring it back 2 that store. You might wanna check it out.

My issue with the Blockhead pedal is that I've read it's not compatible with RB1 kits. Is this something an update (I'm on the PS3) has addressed?
