So I was at Best Buy the other day and saw some replacement drum sticks for Rock Band. They look awesome in their all black color, which is one reason why I almost bought them. Only thing stopping me is are these as cheap as the drum sticks it shipped with? Compared to a real set of drum sticks, the ones that shipped with RB were very light and felt like they weren't too durable. Are the replacement drum sticks any better, or should I go out and buy a real pair for a backup that might last longer?

If you realy want some good drum sticks go to guitar center and pick some up for about 10 bucks.

I picked up a replacement set of sticks @ Hot Topic. They've got Slipknot on em, I think there were some others at one point. But maybe no one wanted the Slipknot ones :) Also saw some at Spencer's. They run about 10 bux, you're probably paying more for the band names on em, but, they do feel a little more sturdy than the ones that came with it.

Thanks, I'll have to check Hot Topic and a few other shops next time I go to the mall. The only thing I really wanted to know is if the Rock Band-branded replacement sticks are just as "cheap" as the ones it came with, or if they are a little better.

My girlfriend & I went to Guitar Center & picked up a pair of Zildjian sticks each. Mine are 5A's with nylon tips & a bit of grippy on the end, hers are 5B's with rubber in the shaft to reduce vibration.

After playing with both sets, I REALLY like hers. :p

I think these were the ones PunkJr was talking about. They look pretty sweet for Rock Band, since its for use with a drum pad (and thats basically what the controller is)

The drumsticks are regular old Ludwigs. You can get them in any music store. The only difference is that the Rock Band logo is on these. :p

I am just using plain old 7a vater sticks. They are pretty sturdy and light.

I am buying some for my son for Xmas. I couldn't stand the wood grain feel of the one's in the box, so we wrapped the butt of each with scotch tape for the time being. Definately looking to get some new ones whne I am near a Guitar Center.

I'd definitely recommend picking up a pair of 5As if you get a chance. I'm not 'toooo' picky about drumsticks being a real drummer BUT I did attempt the "roll the stick along the floor" Q/A check and noticed that the sticks I received were a bit wobbly AND didn't seem to weigh the same.

If you do attempt the roll the stick technique, focus on the bead head, if it doesn't appear to stay put, them you have a bum stick...this can affect the balance of the stickfeel when you're playing.

The Zildjian 5A Dips with Nylon tips (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Zildjian-DIP-Drumsticks?sku=441570) are my drumstick of choice for my real band. They're very comfortable and the grip dip on the end means you will very rarely have one fly out of your hand. And best of all, they're STURDY. I break maybe one per night when we play for 3 hours.

You don't need anything fancy or high end for this game. When I'm playing electronic drums, I usually go for a lighter stick like Pro Mark's Mike Portnoy Autograph Series (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ProMark-Mike-Portnoy-Autograph-Series-Drumsticks?sku=443043). I break them in like 2 minutes on real drums but they're perfect for electronic kits.

Don't go spend $10 on the "Rock Band" sticks when you can find sticks at any music store (and sometimes pawn shops too) for much cheaper.

Thanks Kleners and davidshek for tip(no pun intended) I usually have to do my real practicing at night...since it's RB is a 'game' during the day and a practice tutorial once everybody in the house goes off and does their real life responsibilities.

...time to do Black Hole Sun at 70% hard level...still learning these songs.

Another piece of advice I can give ya: Find/download a copy of these songs, put them on your iPod (or whatever player you use) and listen to them. Over and over and over again. Listen to them in the car, tap along on the steering wheel, listen to them while you work/study/etc. You'll learn the rhythm of the songs and commit it to memory without even trying, which is what you'll need for playing drums in RB.

I found that I could 5* Expert just about all of the songs I already knew or had played on real drums, but the ones I wasn't so familiar with took me a few tries for that 5th *, just cause I didn't know what was coming next.

Something is seriously wrong with how I interpreted that. I need a confessional.

Back on topic!

I too am looking for a stylin' set of sticks. Money is no object.
