I got my bundle a couple days ago and have had no problems. If you're getting it later in December then I'm sure they will have the second gen hardware in it which doesn't fail as much as the first gen stuff.

Yeah, I mean people seem to be complaining equally on the 360 and PS3 (as far as stuff breaking goes). I have a shipment made on Sept. 20th and it works like a dream. So it's not all bad. You shouldn't be worried.

I don't know about your area but in Sacramento (as well as a lot of other places I've heard) are all sold out of RB. So that means the initial shipment has already been sold and since he's getting it in about a month for Christmas he shouldn't have any problem getting a newer bundle.
Just when the Gamestop/Best Buy/Whateverstore guy hands you the bundle check the date on the bottom. Anything in October is going to mean problems from what I've heard. Anything from November should be fine.

Honestly, I've put in a lot of rocking on my bundle and haven't had any issues. I think you'll be fine.
I noticed that you said you'll be getting it for the Wii. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Rock Band isn't for the Wii.

Keep in mind also that only the people with problems are complaining :)
I got mine on release day and everything is working just fine. There's a good chunk of people out there that haven't had any problems that you don't hear from on these boards.

Worst case scenario is you can put it through the paces and still take advantage of the warranty.

He said he's getting GH3 for his Wii. Not RB.

I noticed that too but I think he meant he will be getting GH3 for the Wii, hence not being able to use that guitar if the RB one breaks.

Why not get both for the 360. That way you can use DLC for GH3 and the GH guitar in RB if yours breaks or a friend wants to play bass?

Divorced parents make that a problem, for having a wii in one place and a ps2 and 360 for another... so since i have gh2 for ps2, i got gh3 for wii so i can play gh at te seperate house

Well, I think that I was one of the lucky ones. My rock band Drum kit broke 4 days in.
The bass drum pedal broke in half(just like in thousand other posts) and it was a big game of tag to get customer service.
THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD TAKE AROUND 13 BUSINESS DAYS (that is 3 flippin weeks) to get a replacement. Then i will have had the guitar for almost 4 weeks and the drum pads for 4 weeks, and no ability to play drums. Then i only have 4 weeks of warranty left.
They know there equipment is faulty. The sticker on the box, the INSTANT recognition of my problem without me telling them on the phone. They want your money, then duck and weave as to the fixing of problem. yes, they said they would replace my part, but "3 weeks" is no service at all. and only a 8 week warranty. They expect you to buy replacement parts later, or use quality GH guitars. The game itself is VERY GOOD....but the parts, from the bad strum bar, to the iffy usb splitter, to the drum pads, to the drum bass pedal is about the worst made products i've seen allowed into the marketplace. I am an angry customer, but read the next 50,000 posts on the same subject and you'll get a clue. I wonder if it's a coinsidence that the replacements parts are scheduled to come out Feb 8th, 10 weeks after christmas and 2 weeks after all those warranties wear out????

Did you choose the express option? The turnaround time for that is less than a week. Also, you should check the warranty laws in your state. Many states specify that the time that something is being serviced (or a new one is being sent in the mail) can't count against the time of the warranty.
