View Full Version : plan for new kick pedal/double bass pedal

Here is my plan. It seems the little rubber nubs on the kick are where the sensors lie. If you remove the pedal and mount a rubber plate to it and set up a norma kick pedal so the mallet hits the rubber and send the needed shock through the nubs to activate the kick in game. I havent actually researched to see if those nubs are in fact the sensors. If they are this should work. Then all you need is a double bass pedal.

Anyone with a broken pedal willing to try it out?

I just looked at it. That theory is completely wrong. What fires the kick?

it looks as though it is just some sort of shock sensor in the base of the unit. I am watching the pats so i havent tested it yet but i will tomorrow.

This should work:

buy one of these:

It's a normal keyboard sustain pedal which should be basically the same as teh rock band pedal only instead fo a shock sensor it's just a switch.

Get a mono 1/4F to 1/8M adapter along with a mono 1/8 Y cable and you should have double bass. Mind you the sustain bpedal has a very different switch action. If you can get ahold of anotehr RB bass pedal the Y cable should be all you need.

the problem is i want the swing of a real kick pedal. You know how it swings free against the weight of the mallet. Makes the fast double or more bass hits easier.

If you look closely at the very toe-most tip of the orange plastic on the underside, you'll see a small rare earth magnet. I'm almost certain that is what is used to fire the kick.
