View Full Version : Just upgraded from RB1 to RB2 and not sure if my drums are correct?

I just purchased a new Rock Band 2 SE kit today and when I put the drums together I noticed that the gap on the Yellow and Blue pads is not as large as the Red and Green pads. I also noticed that the spring in the Red and Green pads is much better. When playing with any drum sticks larger than the ones that came with the kit the plactic is contacting the base of the drum set and making a cracking sound. It does not take much to bottom out the two middle pads. The pads are not cracked but make a hollow sound when this happens.
Is this normal or could I have gotten a defective kit? I am not sure if there is foam or springs inside so I am not sure why they gaps would be different. So far, I am wishing I had kept my RB1 drums as they felt much better and more solid.
I have also put the RB silencers on the new kit to try to stop the pads from contacting but this did not help. The drum hits are quiet until the plactic smacks together.
What is one to do?

bump... Does nobody have the wireless drums that can answer the spacing gap question on the Yellow and Blue pads?

Hmm, not sure about that one. I know personally my RB2 Drums do not hvae this issue and all seems to be pretty uniform in thier design/construction. You may want to send these back as they may be defective, or maybe the wrong parts were used?
Also just as a recommendation. The official Rock Band silencer pads may be an easy fix for this issue as well. They cover the entire pad, even the plastic edge and quiet them up pretty good. Thier heavy duty too. I have a set and I don't expect them to show any wear and tear for quite some time.
Good Luck!

I have the silencers and this just causes the pads to bottom out quicker as the weight of the pads add more down force when hit. I called EA support and may send them back.
