View Full Version : Am I the only one who LOVES the new guitar?

I know the new guitar is one of the things people love to complain about, but frankly, I don't get it. I think it's flawless.
It's bigger, it doesn't look like a Fisher Price toy, the new fret buttons make transitions easier, the solo buttons help out a lot, the effects switch is crazy fun, the whammy bar's bigger, the strum bar doesn't slip out between your fingers, and best of all, it's silent. I HATED the clicky strum bar on the GH controllers, it was distracting and embarrassing.
Seriously, what's not to love? Granted, my whammy bar broke already, but that's what the warranty, and a rubber band for a temporary fix, are for.
To each their own, I suppose. But for me, this is the guitar I've been waiting for.

I love the new guitar with all my heart, I just wish it hadn't broken. But great, great hardware design.

I LOVE the new guitar!
But it broke. : (
I LOVED it. I can't wait to get the new one, I HATE the GH3 controller, it's so unwieldy.

The Strat is to Rock Band what God is to man. Worthy to be praised.

I love it. I like the strum bar. It is quieter and I can go faster with it than the GH version. Sometimes have problems when my fingers are on the edges of the frets, I end up pushing a button I do not mean to (I have fat fingers). Now imagine if I could have two of them! :D

I liked mine, til it busted.
I hope the one EA sends is slightly better :)

I love it too..
and I love how it is made perfectly for bass plucking... must be a big reason for the nub shaped point of the strumbar.

Oh, but you can.
Did you imagine it was Helen?
Anyway, I only used it and GH3's controller at Best Buy...I prefer the strat by far.

Damn, man! You managed to invoke the possibility of a religious flamewar in a thread which already is going to be filled with religious-level fervor (never under-estimate the love a man has for his guitar, after all)! You have serious skills. ;)
On-topic, I love the Strat. I think it's easily the best guitar controller out there, and if mine didn't have a completely busted strum bar, I'd be using it all the time. Can't wait to get my new one in.

Cripes. I had no idea so many people's guitars got busted.
Here's hoping we have better luck with our replacements. Otherwise they should just change the warranty from 60 days to, um, forever.

No downstrum on mine...
But I still love it while I wait for a replacement.
The old Gibson PS2 guitars would kill my left wrist. Major carpal tunnel pains after less than an hour of play.
With the Strat and it's thinner neck I can play for hours with no issues.
So please fix my Strat and I will have found true love!

I also love the guitar, the new buttons just rock my face completely off.
Sadly, I'm also now having problems with my strum bar. After following some of the threads in the forums, I've taken a peek inside and I'm pretty confident I can get things worked out without having to resort to a warranty replacement.
Of our two strats, one of them is very well behaved with only the rare double strum. However, one needs some TLC pretty bad.
Having taken apart the strat and poked around, I'm really really pleased with the build quality. While the problems are well known and wide spread, I'm certain it's fixable.

The guitar is great! ...if it works. Mine's starting to develop "double strum when you single strum" syndrome, or whatever. =[

I love the new Stratocaster as well. I only wish that the fret buttons were as quiet as the strum bar. I'm waiting for a replacement to come in because my downstrum suddenly stopped working in the middle of a song last night. Downstrums wouldn't register at all until I shook the guitar and wobbled the strum bar a couple of times.

I like the strat guitar (i think it has a superior form design and button layout), but if it can't last a days worth of play I'll take the GH3 Les Paul (if it worked with RB - DOh on buying both on PS3). I have to say I do prefer the Les Paul's strum bar better even though it's noisy; the clicking sort of gives me feedback that i like (it helps that I don't play either RB or GH beyond medium and at the moment only downstrum).

I can't stand the new strum. I fidn it much harder to hit quick series of notes. My roommate also agrees with this. Personally, I'm on PS3 and can't wait for a patch to use my Les Paul. Also, this guitar feels cheap. With the strat the neck twists and I can feel the seems in the plastic separating at times under normal, calm play. To me the Les Paul feels sturdier. Also, when I tilt my strat a small plastic bit rattles around inside. It came out of the box that way. I want my friggin Les Paul man, the effects aren't that big of a deal.

I really like the guitar, but just as I started to enjoy it and get a feel for it, it started messing up with the strumming issue. I was really mad. I just pulled out the GH3 Les Paul and problem fixed. I have already sent off for the replacement Strat from EA. Hopefully it will come in this week and will have whatever problems they have found to date fixed.

I wasn't sure about the new guitar at first, but after a few hours of playing lead guitar I really like it. The new strum bar seems easier to play quick passages with, but I haven't tried everything on both guitars.
I haven't had any problems with the strum bar yet, but it does seem somewhat more 'fragile' than the GH2/GH3 controllers. The demo unit at the Best Buy near me had the broken downwards strum. Of course, its drum kit had also been smashed to the point where two pads didn't function, so I don't know what kind of abuse that guitar took.

I love the Strat sooo much, no hardware issues at all. It's perfect IMO.

I love the design of the Strat guitar, as do a number of people who tried it with me.
If only it worked right, everything would be perfect.
Or if I had, you know, two of them.

I loved it till it broke. Being in the UK I fixed it myself but i am a bit worried that it will just go again. So I am unable to send it back and there is no other guitar periferal that will work with it... Never mind the drums and singin will keep me going. If I could get the DLC life would be pretty perfect!

This guitar is junk.
Sorry let me rephrase. The strum bar is jung. I love the new fingerings though.

I think it's much better than the x-plorer. I'm bummed that I started getting strummer problems and overdrive problems. When I get the replacement it will be my favorite again.

I love it. I'm lucky enough to have my guitar working (we broke it in something fierce, maybe that's all it needed?), and I love it with a passion. I'm never going to go back to using the LP unless I'm forced to.
Love it! So much in fact that I am playing guitar more than the other instruments. With Guitar Hero out for so long you'd think that would be the last instrument that I would want to play, but I truly enjoy it.
Great job Harmonix! (Note: this is aside for the technical issues with the guitars themselves of course. :) )
