How do you ise the normal 360 controller to play?

Yes, but only if you want to be the vocalist.

The 360 controller automatically defaults to being the vocalist and there's no way to change that. Sorry.

harmonix did state that a controller could be used saying that it wouldnt however be very fun. Unfortunately, it doesnt work out because the controller doesnt recognize it as an instrument. For example, when you join a game by pressing the green drum, how does it know that you are playing drums? somethings missing. The only thing you can do if your strum bar is broken is use the D-pad as a strum bar and use the fret colors as normal
