If you wanna play this year mate, you'll wanna get it for the PS3. I'm in Australia, and that's what I did. The PS3 is region-free for games.

As far as an official release outside of the US and Canada goes, all I know is "early 2008". And considering all the hardware issues that have been cropping up, I doubt the other territories are a priority for them right now.

Probably Feb or March 2008.
Yeah Play-Asia (http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-2rr1-3-affiliates-49-en.html) is your best bet.
They are based on Hong Kong and ships to most Asian countries for free.
But not Rock Band because the value is more than $100.
Rock Band bundle isn't listed as well due to availability problems.

I think you're being unreasonable with your hate towards the PS3 -- at least it's a region-free platform! I live in Japan and have a PS3, 360, and Wii (all Japanese versions). So I know how important region-free gaming really is, what with the Wii being locked down completely, and the 360 being a craps shoot.

That being said, if Play-asia falls through, you might want to try www.gdex.co.jp.

Oh, btw, can you provide iron clad verification that the 360 version is region locked? I always kinda held out hope that the one guy from Europe was just blowing smoke up our collective ass when he said he had "proof."

I can confirm that the 360 version is region locked. I'm in the UK, and I imported the game. I'm in the same situation as this guy (But I'm waiting on a PAL release).

I pre-ordered a long while ago, and despite rumours of it being region locked I didn't cancel. What's the worst that could happen... a few instruments waiting to be played til the PAL release (It's killing me actually :p I'm even tempted to import a US core :().

My only worry now is whether my unplayed instruments will be able to be replaced via the UK repair site for free upon release if/when they crap out on me. I didn't import it expecting breakage in the first week (As appears may happen)

As for the 360 being region free, the console is totally region free. It's up to the developers to region lock if they want, and EA region lock everything. I believe region locking blu-ray games isn't happening right now, which is why PS3 importers have got away with it.

Wow, that's unreasonable and uncalled for. Serious question, where do you XBox 360 guys get this vile hatred of the PS3? Sure, it's a competitor, but it doesn't detract from your gaming at all.

The PS3 is far from a piece of ****. None of the 3 next gen gaming consoles are crap. They appeal to different people for different reasons, and they all have their pros and their cons, but they're all pretty good. I'd be happy with a 360 or a Wii. I happen to like the features of the PS3 the best, but if I had the money, I'd get the other two as well, there's certainly games on both I'd love to play.
